Depression and anxiety can leave you feeling lonely, scared and vulnerable. But you're not. I work with clients using a combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to practice mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation and distress tolerance, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help challenge those irrational thoughts and replace them with more helpful, constructive ones. We will incorporate some solution-focused and strengths-based therapies as well.

This can include difficulty pursuing relationships, coping with existing relationships that are complicated, grief when a relationship ends, family discord, friendship problems, loneliness, and struggle coping with workplace issues.
Saturday appointments Available. Welcome. If you are thinking about trying out counseling, but there is a part of you that is shocked that you would ever think about scheduling a counseling appointment, then you will fit right in with the work that I do. Even though I love all things that are self-help focused, I can understand how that initial appointment to speak with a counselor about those concerns can seem scary and just not something you ever thought you would do. My favorite part of therapy is when there is that moment that people realize that counseling is not actually scary and that they actually like it.

Sex addiction can have a truly negative impact on your family, your career, your relationships, and your health. Discovering that your partner has an addiction or is heavily involved in porn can be devastating to your relationship. You may feel alone and ashamed about your partner's behavior and have the urge to try to control how he acts. Although sexuality composes a large part of our lives, talking about it isn't always easy. When problems arise, it is even more difficult to discuss. Anger is a normal, healthy human emotion. However, left uncontrolled, it has the power to damage your body and your relationships.

I have a background working with an array of people who have experienced anxiety, depression, pain management issues, addiction issues, relationship/family issues, and job related/career issues.
Are you looking for a counselor who is caring and has over 10 years in the mental health field? I know it is hard to find the right fit sometimes and it is very important that you connect with your clinician. I find it very important to understand my client as much as possible in our first session so I know exactly how to help them on their therapeutic journey. I help my clients by being compassionate, a good listener and giving them psychological techniques that rewire the brain in order for them to have healthier lives.

Some of these include struggles with Parenting, ADHD, intimate relationships, family challenges, students with behavioral issues, personal challenges, anxiety and depression.
Relationships are perhaps one of the most important parts of life. They can be rewarding and fulfilling, draining and stressful, maybe even both. Struggles in relationships with others can have a negative impact on our health both physically and mentally. It is the struggle within ourselves, however, that can be the make or break for us in setting the tone for the other relationships in our lives. These challenges can lead to or be caused by anxiety, depression, and other debilitating mental health symptoms.

My professional experience includes working with clients who are experiencing: behavioral concerns, depression, domestic abuse/violence, grief, parenting concerns, relationship issues, anxiety, coping skills, family conflict, sexual assault, self-esteem issues, and military and trauma issues.
Change can be a very intimidating word. How many of us know that "something" needs to change but we are unsure and overwhelmed with where to start. Change means there is a possibility of failure and who needs that? I use a person-centered approach when working with clients, meeting them where they are at and building upon that to make the desired change. There are positive aspects to everyone's life, but we often fail to notice them. Let me help you with this. Make an appointment today and we'll work on obtaining the goals you want!

I provide Individual, group, and marriage and family therapy.
I have enjoyed providing support in mental health for over 20 years now. We all face moments of distress and experience unplanned circumstances in our lives that we simply are not prepared for. It can be difficult to navigate our way through all of the thoughts that may come up or the different levels of pain we tend to experience. I know that reaching out for help can be challenging. We all have our own healing journeys and I am grateful to be able to help individuals with discovering their own path to healing, growth and change.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
