I have been counseling addicts and alcoholics since 1993. I have inpatient, detox, outpatient and intervention experience. I have completed many assessments for teens at college that have been sent hiome for evaluations and treatment if needed. DWI and DUI assessments and education can be done at YOUR convenience and not according to an agencys schedule. My ideal client is a motivated client, that want's to make their life better, or recognizes that his or her substance abuse/addiction is causing major disruptions in their life. I also enjoy the challenge of the unmotivated client that I can help through the stages of change. Individual, group counseling and random drug testing (on site) are regular practices, family work and education are important services that I provide as well. I work closely with Psychiatrist's in Greenwich Ct, New Canaan Ct, and NYC when needed. These are trusted addiction specialist psychiatrists. I look forward to helping you and or your family member. When I am working with a client I become available 24 hours a day.

Not all big problems began big, and not all small problems remain small. There are many different reasons clients come to me for help, with the common goal of finding happiness, and living a life that feels fulfilled and peaceful. Whether it be an experience from the past that anchors you, a problem in the present that negatively affects important responsibilities such as family/relationships, career/education and overall well being, or worry of the future; everyone deserves to feel in control and empowered for their own lives. Together, we can convert negative thinking into positive/proactive thinking that generates change.

Life is full of stressors, and these stressors probably got more complicated by surrounding crisis like the pandemic. YOU are not the only one; you are not alone in this. Help is always there for those who seek it. You could have anxiety or you could have gone through traumatic experience, and going through grief. You could be struggling with substance use, or have unmet goals of yours. I hope that you know the real value of counseling therapy. Although it has been recognized as a treatment for those who truly need it, it is also the road to learn how to cope with the points and situations we struggle with during our daily lives.

Overcoming an addiction is difficult even for the strongest of people. It is important to remember that addiction is a disease of the brain. Addiction is not a moral failing. You are not a bad or flawed person. However, the reality of most diseases, including addiction, is that they require ongoing care to manage. Being in recovery is a lifelong commitment that will not always come easy. Getting sober, or stopping the use of drugs and alcohol, is only the first step to sober living. Sober living requires making some lifestyle changes that promote personal growth and long term sobriety. I can help you start your journey.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
