Please call for most recent availability. Therapy should serve you in the way a swiss army knife can; sometimes you need a file for taming sharp edges, a bit of flint to shed some light, or a blade to cut through what is holding you back. The therapeutic process is just that, a multi-tool that can be used to eliminate many barriers, rather than a one-size fits all. We will work together at your pace to identify and tackle these barriers confidently, with knowledge that you are well equipped for the task at hand.

Unfulfilling relationships, substance use, depression/anxiety and career challenges are often the catalysts that bring many people to my practice. I conduct psychotherapy through a Gay/LGBTQ-affirmative and culturally humble framework. Now Offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

How are you getting in your own way? Did you grow up in a toxic family? Is there a way you start believing that you are not good enough? You look in the mirror and feel puzzled by this stranger looking back at you. Getting out of bed each morning is becoming more difficult. You feel invisible. Life has become totally overwhelming. You support everyone else, and yet you feel completely drained. You have lost direction, and feel sad, lonely, and miserable. You want to start taking risks, and absolutely need to make changes in your life, in order for you to feel fulfilled! Yet, you feel as though you are in quick sand!

In the therapeutic space, we will use a variety of methods to build mutual insight into your personal history, family legacy, and social location.
When you think of a "therapist", what pops into your mind? The image of the quintessential therapist may be a little antiquated for the 21st century and you may not be sure if that person will be able to understand where you're coming from. With me, therapy is compassionate, authentic, and realistic. I have faith that you are strong enough to explore into those neglected parts of you and allow them to be seen and held. As a relational and systemic therapist, we will work as a team to understand your place in the world and write a life story that taps into your power and potential.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
