My areas of focus are depression, anxiety, and trauma work.  I combine person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and narrative therapy with spiritual interventions to meet your needs, but your goals will direct our therapeutic process.  We can partner together to explore your story and help you achieve your own vision of wellness.

For over twenty years, I've been helping individuals, couples, and families struggling with a range of problems including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, ADD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, marital and family distress, infidelity, and sexual addictions. Working as a therapist, researcher, and professor in medical settings throughout my career (University of Texas Medical Branch, University of Nebraska Medical Center) has informed my work with individuals and families to provide whole-personal care, integrating mind, body, and spirit.

I assist my clients in resolving the blocks that prevent them from moving forward in their lives. I believe clients have their own best solutions, and the counseling process brings these solutions to life, allowing clients to achieve their goals.

Since 2010, I have had the privilege of working with clients who have faced various challenges such as mood disorders, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, difficulties adjusting to family life, coping with grief, dealing with trauma, challenging behavior, struggling with substance abuse, exploring gender identity, and adjusting to new situations.

How we experience mental health concerns is reliant on several variables. One of the ones that is our overall health. Have we been diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness? It is not just how we “feel” about our illness; it is also how our body is reacting to our illness or healing. Another variable is family history and dynamics. What has been our family history with both mental and physical health? What is my role with my family? These are only a few examples of topics to consider.
