My foundation is in Family Systems, I graduated form Pepperdine University in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Finding a therapist is not easy and chances are you’re either questioning if you need to go to counseling at all, or telling yourself you can handle whatever is going on, by yourself. Most of the time, we wait a long time before we reach out for support to take care of our mental health. If you are confused, feeling stuck, struggling with some pain, or concerned about your child or family, I hope you seek support and find the right therapist for you. Prioritizing your mental health is prioritizing you and your goals in life.

As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with people in different stages of development to help bring clarity and offer support.
Therapy is for everyone. Your thoughts will determine your perspective, feelings and reactions. Understanding ways to shift your own thinking to create change can be transformational. Taking the time to reflect and process in an environment without judgement offers healing. It is a powerful thing to feel heard and understood.

I use a holistic approach, considering everything from family history and past experience to cultural identity, community, and world view to best understand you and your unique experience.
Ready to thrive instead of just survive? Life is ever-changing, and sometimes we get bogged down by relationships or circumstances that leave us feeling hollow or worn out. I understand the yearning to have life feel open and easy despite feeling day-to-day like you're spinning your wheels in the same place. I can help. I provide a safe space to help you explore your life and relationships in a way that allows you to build insight and develop a better perspective of whatever life has thrown your way.

My personal family history with autism gives me a unique perspective on what it's like to have a loved one struggle with ASD-- I know there is hope!.
Do you feel empty, alone, or paralyzed by fear and anxiety? Do you feel unable to cope with life's challenges? Maybe you feel frustrated with yourself for giving up on your true desires or generally unsatisfied, lost or without purpose? Suffering only forces the pain underground to emerge in old patterns that may be limiting your success or interfering with your ability to move past losses and create more fulfilling relationships. Change can be difficult, but the rewards are vast! Recognizing the complexity and uniqueness of each individual is essential to my collaborative and in-depth approach.

I don't know that life ever works out exactly as we picture. As a therapist, I want to help others find practical, workable solutions to life's challenges while acknowledging their individual histories, family stories and future goals. Whether it is a child struggling with school peers, a teen faced with bullying or an adult navigating personal challenges, the resources needed to cope are found within the individual and are just waiting to be uncovered. I believe that you should guide your therapy experience and work toward goals that fit your life and values utilizing your strengths and beliefs.

I explore individual's experiences in family and relationships to help gain an understanding of how you relate to yourself and others.
I have experience in inpatient and outpatient settings working with eating disorders, addictions, depression and anxiety, and trauma. I understand and respect the mind-body connection and how it can be an avenue for healing and change.I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership and I provide a safe, comfortable and compassionate space. This space allows individuals to openly explore thoughts, emotions and behavior patterns, while learning to express emotions and relieve distress in a healthy way. I balance this with an authentic and direct approach which guides and challenges clients to move forward in their growth process.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
