I often utilize an eclectic approach, blending various therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, to bring lasting growth.
I do believe that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. I bring years of experience working with adolescent and adult individuals struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), eating disorders, anxiety/depression, grief, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD).

I have done training in Solution Focused therapy and have been influenced by Internal Family Systems, DBT, and Somatic exercises.
I have a deep love for people and desire for people to know and embody their worth. I approach therapy from a belief that healing begins with the therapeutic relationship itself and I will collaborate with you to discover new levels of safety and wholeness. It would be honor to come along side you in this journey. Before counseling I worked as a theatre artist and this informs my belief that healing is a whole body, as well as a creative endeavor. I have a high regard for the sacred and the role of spirituality and will incorporate this as directed by you.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I can assist with a variety of concerns.
Therapy is for everyone. Different backgrounds, different relationships, and different concerns. The decision to set up therapy is one of the bravest and, perhaps, most important decisions one can make. My primary goal as a therapist is to help my Clients feel safe and comfortable in the space in order to guide reflection and navigate change. I love to see people that want to look at themselves and the world around them to understand how to strive toward their goals. Therapy can be work and I will be there alongside you to provide perspective and encourage embracing the effort.

It can be hard to navigate family life.
Hi there, I work with everyone from young adults to empty nesters to show up in their relationships more authentically-I especially help with the challenge of raising kids and individuating from parents. I support people with differences to use moments of potential tension to get curious instead of furious or fearful, building a life they want to come home to - with skills that transfer to all their relationships especially the one they have with themself. If you're ready to grow with the support of someone who gets where things get tricky, is reliable but also relatable, then give me a call.

Making the decision to seek help/enter counseling can be difficult, often with feelings of fear, overwhelm and discouragement. My approach is to first understand what drove the client to reach out for help, and then provide a comfortable space to discuss what they’d like to be different. Working together to identify treatment goals, and an approach, the client gains confidence in the process and hopefulness in a positive outcome. I provide individual, family and couple's therapy and work from a strength-based perspective and to understand the individual(s) in context of their environment, relationships, culture and experiences.

I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you build awareness of the different parts of your personality that create frustration or disconnection as well as EMDR to help heal from the pain of trauma and post-traumatic stress.
We all have things that we keep in the dark, believing if this ever came to light it would destroy me. But it's never those things that destroy us, it's always the darkness. Shame, self doubt, and trauma all live in the darkness. We push down our feelings and numb out for fear that the vulnerability of feeling the emotions will become overwhelming and we won't be able to cope. But the numbness is isolating and never gets us towards the rich and valuable life that seems out of reach. Hi, my name is Troy and I specialize in helping men connect to themselves and improve the relationships around them.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
