I am a Licensed Psychologist and the Clinical Director of Sollars and Associates Integrative Counseling and Psychological Services. I have been providing counseling and psychotherapy for over 30 years in the Metro Detroit area and our group practice spans across the state of Michigan. Our group is trained in dealing with a variety of issues including: Attention Deficit Disorder, School Difficulties, Interpersonal Issues such as bullying, adult ADD and related issues, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Mood Disorders, Grief and Loss, Parenting, Educational Concerns, Relationship Concerns, Career and Work Issues, and Sexual Issues.

I have been working with children, families and organizations for over three decades in various forms. From children with special needs, to teaching, to hospice care, to working in schools and organizations, to now working full time as a therapist. In working as a therapist, I have experience working in schools, churches, foster care, CPS, FOC, family relationships, child behavior, parenting, conflict resolution, and leadership counseling. Hi, my name is Scott! I earned my Master’s in Social work from Western Michigan University in April 2006. My post graduate experience has been in behavioral health and I have been practicing as a therapist since having obtained my Master’s degree. I specialize in working with kids, adolescents, teens, and young adults, on issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, school related issues, behavioral concerns, learning to regulate emotions, and family issues.

I have worked as a Hospice Social Worker, an outpatient therapist for Pine Rest, and as a therapist treating adults with major mental health disorders with two Community Mental Health organizations. I have experience treating a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, sleep issues, compulsive behaviors, bipolar disorder, relationship and marital issues, grief and loss, domestic violence, stress, post-traumatic stress, trauma, anger management, and women's issues. I currently have immediate openings and no waiting list.

I enjoy working with a broad range of clients...from children who have been impacted by trauma, to adults who are struggling with life changes, unresolved trauma, or anxiety/depression. I honor that all of us are individual human beings with different needs, therefore, I like to tailor my therapeutic sessions to the person I'm sitting with at the moment. I believe that all of us need a safe space to be heard and to process all that life may throw at us throughout different stages of our journey. My passion is to create that safe space for anyone who feels I would be a good fit for them.

I have experience in the areas of stress reduction/coping, post-partum depression, anxiety, and grief and loss. With children, I treat trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief, and behavioral disorders such as ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I have also worked with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) with children who have autism and are nonverbal.

Therapy can be a way to work through difficult life situations, manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other conditions, or a way to explore new avenues of coping. I believe counseling works best when both the therapist and the client are actively involved in the process. I believe therapy should be catered to the individual and the client should be seen as a whole person rather than broken apart into their symptoms.

Life is rough at times. We can't always do it on our own. Sometimes we need professional guidance and support. I provide therapy services to adults and adolescents who are struggling with relationships, depression, or anxiety. My style is eclectic--I blend various schools of thought from my training and 25+ years of experience. I'm also interactive--I don't just reflect back what you've already said.
