I've been trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) & CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy).
Hello and welcome! Finding a therapist can be hard. I want to commend you for taking that first step. I approach therapy with a non-judgmental and trauma-informed lens. I use a client-centered approach and believe that the body and nervous system holds memories from our past. I strive to help you work through those memories in whichever way you feel is most comfortable. My goal is to create a safe environment that allows you to prosper. I use a variety of different interventions, honoring that you know yourself best and what helps one person, may not help another in the same way.

My ideal client may need help with confidence, relationships, or learning who they are. They aim to reduce symptoms of clinical diagnoses and work with me to see progress in their lives. This client would want to learn more about themselves and improve their relationships with others and with themselves. They would be a motivated and insightful client who attends sessions regularly and comes prepared with topics to discuss. I would help this client by listening to them and their thoughts, offering support, and building a rapport with them.

Life happens to all of us; stressors are inevitable, unresolved feelings may arise and it can all be just a little bit overwhelming. Despite our best efforts we may find ourselves overly stressed, alone, anxious, or just tired. Whether it’s dealing with a transition, a loss, a tragedy, a relationship, or just the daily highs and lows, we all deserve a place to decompress and process what life throws at us. Maybe this is a tough season for you, or maybe you just need support as you work on your goals. Therapy should act as both a safe space filled with warmth and compassion, and a brave space that challenges and empowers.

I appreciate the time you have taken to look up my profile, as the process of finding a therapist can be daunting. But it is well worth the effort when you find one with whom you can work collaboratively in your journey of growth and healing.

Do you wish to be happy again, and get back control of your life? Has your self esteem plummeted so that daily functioning has become difficult? Has anxiety, depression and anger taken control of you and won't let you function in peace? My ideal adult client is the multitasking adult, often juggling multiple tasks but are unable to cope with their own anger, anxiety, sadness, or stress which seem to be controlling their lives. My ideal adolescent client is one who is dealing with impulsivity, anger, anxiety, peer relations, self esteem issues or are just too depressed to pay attention to their important last years of school.

We, as human beings, have our habitual way to think, feel, and behave which may not always help us cope well. We may feel stuck in the past, fearful for the unknown future, and not being able to be present in the moment. Yet, the present is the only time that we can do something to make a change and feel better. We can stop struggling and begin to practice acceptance and grow through our experiences. In the practice of mindfulness, we are able to observe and become aware of the attachment to our habitual pattern of unhelpful thoughts and be present in the now moment by cultivating a non-judgmental mind and a new beginner's mind.

I enjoy working with adolescents and adults around a variety of issues, including life transitions, anxiety, depression and trauma. My goal is to help individuals chart their own course by increasing awareness of how past experiences continue to resonate; to draw on their resilience, strengths and skills; and, to modify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that cause distress so as to bring about lasting change. My approach involves joining with clients with curiosity, gentle humor, and warmth. Treatment approaches follow theory, best practices, and is practical. Clients typically report improvement after a few sessions.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
