My counseling lens is rooted in family systems and grief and loss.
My approach to counseling is to hold sacred space with you- this space and dedicated time is especially sacred in the hustle and bustle of life. To prioritize, slow down and explore your human experience might feel like a luxury, but in fact it is a necessity. Sometimes life pulls us so hard, that we are forced into this space, other times it is a slow burn that builds. When we listen carefully, we often can figure out what we need, lovingly challenge the thoughts that do not serve us and take steps to connecting to our authentic selves.

With a focus on mind-body connection, I've practiced EMDR since 2015, using this in combination with Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, and Internal Family Systems.
Choosing to pursue therapy can be daunting. It takes effort and intention, things that don't come easily when experiencing stress or crisis. I understand this and want to support you in the step you're about to take. Perhaps you'd like to consider the "why's" behind certain decisions, or connect better with significant people in your life. Maybe you're struggling to keep the lid on hurtful or damaging experiences.

It’s hard to express yourself in an environment full of expectations, bias, and judgment. Can you imagine how freeing and peaceful it is to not have to carry such heavy thoughts and emotions alone? My goal is to provide a safe, objective, and unbiased space to collaboratively manage negative thoughts, find solutions, and pursue healthier approaches and perspectives. As a team, lets work to build upon your strengths, restore trust, understanding, and closeness with yourself and others. It brings me so much joy to witness clients learn and implement skills that will allow them to reach their full potential.

Not accepting new clients
Rather than taking a standard approach to therapy, I leverage my unique experience & background for precise treatments that take into account individual differences in clients’ mental health issues, genes, environments, social & cultural contexts, gender roles, family systems & lifestyles.
Your concerns and challenges are important to me, but so are your personal stories and strengths. My priorities include active listening and building a strong therapeutic relationship while working in collaboration with clients in developing goals and finding solutions. Together, we will explore what barriers are in your way and which strengths will help you foster a satisfying life. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Messiah University with my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Cum Laude from Villanova University with a B.A. in Business Administration and leverage this unique combination for the benefit of my clients.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
