It can feel very lonely being stuck in a cycle of challenging problems that don't seem to get any better. As a therapist, my main goal is to provide a safe space to help clients with anxiety, depression and struggle due to both long-standing issues or perhaps a recent crisis. You may be dealing with major life changes, work or school problems, relationship/family conflict or other upsetting issues. With skilled and compassionate therapy, it is possible to find a way out of the pain-towards peace and happiness.

I am well trained and seasoned by lots of life experience - you can talk to me about anything. A commitment to having a great life, combined with an openness to the support of others, makes anything possible. Being a therapist is my second profession; taken up after working in the investment banking business for more than twenty years. I have raised a family in New York City and have four grown children. Couples therapy, anger managment, addictions, and making major life changes are some of the areas in which I collaborate with my clients.

I specialize in childhood experiences and family dynamics that I believe affect future behavior throughout one's life.
I have found that the most important factor in any successful therapy is the chemistry between therapist and the people he/she works with. I use the therapeutic relationship to understand what problems an individual faces outside the office, what blocks them from accomplishing what they want for themselves. A therapeutic relationship is often one of the most intimate and private relationships one can have. I try to help people develop their own sense of agency to gain control over their lives. I believe people want to be seen and heard. I enjoy being able to provide that for them.

Over the years my team and I have helped individuals and couples through many life stages find meaning and direction. By providing feedback and reflections with kindness, sensitivity and humor, we built good psychotherapeutic relationships with respect and trust. You too can find safety and comfort during our time together in order to maximize your growth, and work toward feelings of well-being and satisfaction. Since no one person is the same, there is no one way to do psychotherapy. Your individuality will always be respected as we are sensitive to your culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and family background.

I believe finding a therapist who strives to understand you as much as you want to understand yourself is so important. I approach my clients by first meeting each client where they are at in order to both learn who they are as a whole & to assess their personal needs & goals. I place great importance in creating a therapeutic relationship consisting of both trust & connection to help my clients feel safe, understood & cared for. My passion is helping my clients throughout various stages & struggles of life not only overcome what they're facing, but overall, have a better understanding of themselves and how they relate to the world.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
