I use an integrated approach that honors my foundation in Family Systems Theory.
When so much feels uncertain, I am here to help you find your way from fatigue and overwhelm to peace and acceptance. The dedicated time and space of our sessions and a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship will support you in creating the fulfilling relationships and experiences you are longing for. I bring my background as a mindful-living coach to my work as a therapist, and I love to support clients who are seeking to cultivate more compassion for themselves and within their relationships. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, no matter what is currently taking center stage in their lives.

Particularly during this challenging time of COVID-19, where we are not only worried about our health but also balancing the stress of a changing work environment with family requirements, having someone you can turn to for support is all the more critical.
All of us face challenges in life. Finding help at these times can feel overwhelming, and I appreciate the difficulty of taking the first step to reach out. I am a clinical social worker with training in psychodynamic, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral approaches. I have had the privilege of working with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life situations including people with anxiety and mood disorders, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, fertility challenges, and people with chronic medical conditions and their loved ones.

I am a NY licensed social worker, who completed my education in Boston. I speak both English and Cantonese. As someone who grew up in a NYC traditional immigrant family, hard work was emphasized and taught. These experiences helped me develop a unique bicultural perspective and approach to help people from multiple cultures, different upbringings, or beliefs. I believe it is very important to have a person to talk to and seek guidance from who understands one’s culture and speaks one's language for our everyday conflicts, struggles, or stresses within work, family, education, and community.

I am a graduate of advanced training programs in both psychodynamic and couple/family treatment, and also have learned to integrate cognitive and experiential components into my practice.
People most often contact me when a critical life event has occurred. They may be feeling anxious or depressed, or have become newly aware of a need to make changes in the way they handle their relationships, emotions, and self-esteem. For some, this is the beginning of a long journey of self-exploration. Others prefer to seek new, more effective tools to address the immediate situation. I think that a good clinician should be able to tailor the treatment to fit the needs and preferences of the client. Too often it is the other way around.

in Clinical Psychology, I've written on multicultural family issues and worked extensively with people coping with past experiences that have come to interfere with their ability to live life fully.
There are times in life when seeing a therapist can help, whether you have recently experienced a traumatic loss or life change, or are dealing with problems concerning your family, work or handling stress. Furthermore, you don't need an excuse to see a therapist - if there are issues in your life that you want to talk about, or you are simply feeling down, seeing a therapist can help, even if it's on just a short-term basis. I have been a therapist in Manhattan for over fifteen years. I am attuned to the problems facing today's New Yorkers, and I can help.

Are you struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma/PTSD, relationship problems, family conflict, career dissatisfaction, issues related to shame, guilt, self-doubt, self-criticism, imposter syndrome, loss and grief, etc.? I would like to share with you a quote. It illustrates how I see the therapeutic process and how I can help: “Let yourself be open and life will be easier. A spoon of salt in a glass of water makes the water undrinkable. A spoon of salt in a lake is almost unnoticed.” – Jack Kornfield

For most of us, anxiety and stress can inhibit our ability to be fully present. Sometimes, all it takes is a new perspective to find the clarity to create a new reality, build fulfilling relationships, and grow into the best version of yourself. I help women experiencing stress, anxiety, and self doubt to overcome life’s challenges and create healthy relationships. Navigating friendships, dating, and changing family dynamics can be a roller coaster in your 20s and 30s—a time where you might grow apart from old friends, experience roommate conflicts, explore intimacy for the first time, or get clear on what you want out of life.

I am committed to religious and ethnic diversity and all family configurations (LGBTQ).
Feelings of emotional pain, depression or anxiety, alert us that important needs are not being met. When needs are not met we feel vulnerable and require protection. As a psychoanalyst I work with the whole person to find less taxing forms of protection so that fears, social withdrawal or repetitive attempts at safety become less necessary. I encourage relaxed communication at a very comfortable pace to nurture a greater sense of safety so your drive for freedom naturally leads you to the life you want. I work to resolve depression, creative blocks, OCD, trauma, romantic difficulties, and problems at work.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
