I bring 30 years of counseling experience to our time together. My orientation can best be described as eclectic, drawing from rogerian, cognitive behavioral and family systems theory and techniques. Our first session provides the opportunity to decide together whether I am best able to help you accomplish your goals. We all have relationship challenges, stressors, and losses. Many times this does not equate to illness or necessitate a diagnosis. My goal is to promote total well-being, prevent further distress, and maintain health and happiness. I partner with adults who need to hit the "refresh" button, get support, and create new ways of looking at themselves and the world. I aim to eliminate stigma by referring to my approach as self-care & growth. I help people to let the past go, the future be as it may, and to step into the present moment fully. You can embrace your unique self, highlight your strengths, find healing, and feel empowered!

We often find ourselves struggling to cope when our world gets turned upside down – by the death of a loved one, loss of relationships or stability, or changes in health. Individual counseling may help you not only cope with life stressors but adapt successfully to them. My approach to counseling is rooted in non-judgment and genuine interest in my clients. I view counseling’s central work as learning to approach oneself with curiosity and compassion rather than criticism.

I am available to support teens, adults and couples through their life changes, especially those challenges that cause stress, depression or anxiety. Relationship dysfunction, family crises, and traumatic events often leave people with no safe space to examine their options and develop a plan for a better future. I help identify the obstacles that block the way and focus on each individual's strengths for making positive improvements for the next stage.

Originally from Sweden, I have worked here in the United States as a therapist for over 29 years. My husband and I reside with Buster, a German Shepard- Standard Poodle mix, who occasionally assists me with clients. Along with Buster, our blended family consists of seven children and fourteen grandchildren.In my years of experience, I have worked as a medical and psychiatric social worker/therapist in hospitals, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and in private practice. With respect and compassion, we will work together to increase self-awareness and love for ourselves and others.

I find great joy in investing in the lives of others. I consider it a privilege to facilitate counseling and be able to help people manage and navigate through difficult life experiences and transitions. My contact with clients starts by providing a safe, secure environment in which the client can slowly open themselves to the therapeutic process. I have special training in attachment issues and injuries but also blend cognitive behavioral, systems therapy, solution focused and neuroscience modalities into treatment as needed.

I use an array of counseling theories and techniques along with play therapy, expressive art, therapeutic yoga, guided relaxation and other holistic approaches to help provide healing, wellness and integrated wholeness to my clients. Working collaboratively with other providers, I offer my clients a complete support system to promote self-growth, recovery, serenity and balance. I employ a full spectrum of cognitive behavioral and psycho-dynamic therapies; along with small group and individualized yoga, meditation, hypnosis and progressive relaxation to treat stress, depression, anxiety, OCD, insomnia, phobias, family changes, school issues, ADHD, self growth, and the navigation of life transitions and challenges.

Currently accepting adolescents, young adults, and adults seeking short term therapy to create a better version of themselves. I work with clients who have a history of trauma and wish to overcome past issues to focus on the present. I specialize in therapy for those who are struggling with a recent stressor/traumatic event(s), such as an unexpected pregnancy, transition into a new role (parent/promotion), loss of a loved one, serious car accident, loss of job, recent move, diagnosis of a chronic illness, change in family dynamic, etc. My priority for individuals is to promote healing in a safe place where their story can be told.

I have always been interested in the wellness of others and have been blessed to watch many people find recovery. I have the experience and training to help people suffering from depression, anxiety and trauma. I work with adults to assist them in overcoming challenges that impact their lives and relationships.
