I'm passionate about helping clients work through trauma/PTSD, anxiety & panic attacks, interpersonal relationship concerns, depression, loneliness, perfectionism, dysfunctional family systems, people-pleasing, communication issues, multicultural identity concerns, faith struggles, and ADHD. I strive to take the time to engage with each person’s unique personality and story and believe that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. I take a holistic and client-centered approach to therapy - meaning focus is on you as a whole person and reviewing your goals and concerns.

I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, but have had the amazing opportunity to live and work all over the country including: Washington, DC; New Orleans, LA; Miami, FL and Boulder, CO. Lynchburg is by far my favorite place and I was happy to return home in 2005. I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading and spending time with my family and friends. Hi there! My name is Amanda and I'm grateful for your courage to take this step. I’ve spent over a decade helping adults, youth (14 & older on case-by-case basis) and families overcome many different challenges: PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and major life transitions. I also offer therapeutic support to those who want to grow their family through adoption. I use CBT, mindfulness, substance use recovery methods, strengths-based approach and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). EMDR is scientifically proven as an effective form of treatment for PTSD, depression/anxiety and distressing events.

Taking the first step to start this journey is something that you should be proud of and know that it takes a lot of courage! I have made the comparison to clients that "finding a good therapist is like finding a comfortable pair of jeans or shoes sometimes you need to try on a few before you find the right fit for you".
