I am a Licensed Marriage, Family.and Child Therapist who has practiced for over 25 years. I treat the whole person as a unique interaction of mind, body and spirit. I honor therapy as a way to heal the upsets and traumatic wounds that keep us from feeling at peace with ourselves and others. I see people as parts of family systems that can create healthy relationships or problematic ones. I help families and couples change generational patterns and beliefs to be more supportive of their love and of empathic communication. I also specialize in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The therapeutic process is unique to the client. For some it involves deep reflection and questioning old idea's, and for others a problem solving collaboration. For me it is the excitement of the journey you will embark on, and the endless possibilities for growth. Transparency is paramount, and key to the process for both client and therapist. Work is progressive and tailored to the individual. As issues emerge, treatment plans are re-assessed and revised to meet client needs. For trauma I am trained in Trauma focused CBT and Functional Family Systems,for addiction CBT and 12-step and for couples family systems therapy.

She received her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Dowling College in New York. Mrs. Theresa Sloan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in South Carolina. She received her Master of Education degree in Counseling from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Mrs. Sloan has also earned Board Certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). She is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and the SC Association of Licensed Professional Counselors.
