In the early years of my career, I worked as a substance abuse counselor and still hold an independent license in that field. My work has evolved away from active addiction towards addressing the trauma and wounds that are associated with addictive processes. For teens that might be self harm, depression or anxiety, and for adult women it can manifest as perfectionism, anxiety, staying overly busy, or being self critical.
