I completed a hospital internship, have taught psychology at the university level, and I am now in private practice. I frequently see patients who have been in treatment previously with little improvement. Careful diagnostic investigation often reveals an incomplete diagnosis and consequently the wrong treatment plan. A careful evaluation of your problems will be my first priority and we will jointly develop a treatment plan. I have extensive experience in the testing and treatment of childhood and adolescent disorders including ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum disorders, Depression, Phobias and Anxiety Disorders.

I have worked as a therapist for 23 years in various settings and have been licensed since 2006. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor/Supervisor, I have provided family, couple and individual counseling for adults. I am EMDR trained. I address parenting skills, marital issues, trauma, mood disorders, behavior disorders, thought disorders, career concerns, and spiritual concerns. As a professional Christian counselor, I believe that the Lord has the power to heal marriages, families, and individuals using Jesus as our example of how to live life and find perfect peace.

Making the decision to begin therapy is a healthy and courageous act that brings with it the potential for growth and healing. I work with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, anger issues, PTSD and Asperger's disorder. I work with couples to improve their communications & the overall quality of their relationships. I assist couples whose relationships have suffered from infidelity. I also help families deal with the challenges of divorce, step family formation, and parent/teenager conflicts. I have experienced divorce, remarriage, and step family issues, thus I understand the emotional impact of these life changes.

Accepting New Clients. My passion is working with people who are teetering in crisis mode and want to establish peace in their life. Sometimes the crisis can be a trauma or it might be a marital or family conflict. I enjoy helping people who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and addiction/recovery. I am comfortable working with military families, and I appreciate cultural differences. I want to help you identify your struggle, explore all potential solutions, and develop goals to overcome the obstacles.

I am licensed in both Virginia and North Carolina. In my practice I work primarily with female adults (20-40 year olds) who are often dealing with life transitions. There is often a commonality among this group. Issues include self esteem, body image, achievement concerns, relationship concerns, anxiety, and depression. Other common concerns are stress, marriage and parenting, and aging. My goal is to help my clients better cope with the difficult issues they face and ultimately live a happier life.

During our initial sessions, we will form a therapeutic partnership and delve deeply into the issues at hand and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back. Most of my clients see a significant lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter. My philosophy of counseling is built on unconditional positive regard.
