I have experience working with individuals, families, and couples, with extra specialization in working with couples and trauma. Whether it is relationship conflict, infidelity, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem issues, behavioral or anger difficulties, parenting concerns, difficult life transitions, medical or other life stress- I strive to work together with my clients towards positive changes in their lives, and healing outcomes!

It is vital to have someone who will actually listen and accept us as we are flaws and all, without judgment or pity. My education and background allows me to have a unique approach to counseling. This means every relationship should have a foundation of friendship to build upon but if we don't know why we "do what we do", we are unable to build the foundation we need. Using different therapeutic styles such as Gottman, Imago, Acceptance & Committment Therapy, and Attachment Theory, I assist clients in identifing and changing their troubling emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

I'm a Psychotherapist with 20 years experience offering psychotherapy and coaching services at Thrive Psychology in St. Jospeh, MI. I practice client centered psychotherapy with experience in family therapy, groups, women, men, adolescents and diversity. My main focus is in supporting my clients to develop into the healthy functioning individuals in their personal and professional lives. I have certification in IMAGO relationship therapy and EMDR therapy.

Dr. Slye received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University (2001) and her doctorate in clinical psychology from The George Washington University (2005). She completed her pre-doctoral internship with the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute and her post-doctoral fellowship with The Metropolitan Center for Mental Health in New York City. Dr. Slye follows a patient-centered approach to help address patient concerns and achieve individual growth. She uses a modern ego psychology approach integrated with complementary methodologies and techniques to offer personalized care.

My goal is to provide you with a straightforward, enriching therapy experience that results in meaningful change. I've helped people improve their marriage or family relationships, thrive in their schooling or career, and cope with anxiety, depression or past trauma. I believe that clients who get the most out of therapy are reflective, curious, honest, patient, and kind to themselves as they navigate the path to self-improvement. My approach is informed by psychological theory as well as two decades of working as a creative professional and university instructor. My style works best with adults and late adolescents (16+).

I have over 35 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. Throughout my experience, I have found that, no matter what therapeutic approach is used, the most important and effective factor in therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Many of my clients have expressed appreciation for not feeling judged. I find that listening is critical to helpfulness, but being actively involved through feedback and direction is also extremely important. I generally do not give "advice", but I do explore, with my clients, different options to resolving problems and making progress toward goals.

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Political Science and my Masters in Arts: Social Work from the University of Chicago. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am a licensed clinical social worker and have worked in many settings from community mental health and crisis intervention to victim advocacy. I am a trained medical/legal sexual assault advocate and a trained domestic violence counselor. I completed my psychology internship at the Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School in a program in Asian Mental Health and Child Psychotherapy.
