My passion is to help people who have experienced any type of trauma; such as divorce, grief and loss, PTSD, and adults survivors who grew up with domestic violence. I also work with people who are suffering from sexual abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety or depression . Do you yearn for love, understanding, acceptance, and connection? My professional beliefs are based in theory that believes all people want to feel significant, connected and capable and therefore all behavior has a purpose. Patterns and themes develop in people’s lives often discouraging them and at times can inhibit growth and or decrease abilities to function effectively. Many times our patterns and themes can be traced back several generations. I spend the first several sessions getting to know you, your family history and exploring current significant relationships. From these sessions, we will jointly agree to the goals of treatment.

I have counseled for over 19 years and have found that, as individuals reflect on their lives, it seems as if the story they are living, is not the story they had hoped to find themselves in. Brainspotting is a powerful, flexible, client-centered therapy that goes more deeply and quickly into our stored memories than other therapies. These stored memories are called brain spots. We change the negative ones. After looking for the most effective counseling technique which was also cost efficient for clients, I chose Brainspotting. Brainspotting is based on EMDR but I find BS is best for pinpointing the individual harmful memories which negatively interfere with our lives. The Brainspotting process enables the client to identify and resolve the roots of traumatic or troubling issues.

As a LMFT I am trained intergrative systemically and certifying as an AAMFT Supervisor. I also am a LPC and a CPCS. I have 30 years of experience and skilled at working with complex relationships mainly with an EFT format. My ideal clients are millennial individuals who find themselves struggling to get what they need out of relationships with others. Whether that relationship is with a parent, peer or significant other, their goals are to set new boundaries, develop healthier habits and learn effective communication and conflict resolution skills in order to verbalize and ultimately have their needs met within the relationship. My ideal clients are also individuals/couples struggling with issues surrounding sexuality. Hi, I'm Courtney. I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and am EMDR trained. I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, and helping them to heal the effect trauma has in a person's nervous system and life. I have served in a wide range of clinical settings, working on an inpatient unit for trauma and eating disorders, in residential programs for sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and addictions, as well as the private practice setting.

My ideal client would be an adolescent who has endured some type of trauma or abuse. Their needs would include building resiliency and expanding their coping skills "toolbox." Their goal would ultimately be to find hope and healing, despite their adversities. They would want to be an active participant in their treatment, so that therapy could be as beneficial as possible. Having said that, any client who feels that they could benefit from my counseling services is more than welcome into my office!
