My educational techniques include: cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems approaches, and mindfulness exercises. I am a Christian therapist trained in many techniques, interventions, and approaches (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Humanistic); however, my focus is on working with my clients to meet their need for counseling. I believe counseling is the most effective way to gain insight into how our past is directing our present and future choices. We live in a world embraced intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships that have shaped and influenced our perception of ourselves and insightful counseling helps us ascertain what is important to us. I will work with clients, who prefer to incorporate their Christian beliefs into their counseling session.

Every client is unique and, thus, deserves a unique approach. I enjoy helping each patient identify their individual challenges and develop a plan that meets them where they are. I believe meeting each client where they are in their lives is vital to effective therapy and change. I use various approaches, including CBT, solution-focused, and strength-based therapies. I also enjoy family systems therapy to help families restore and develop healthy relationships.

In addition, I work with LGBTQI, Gender Identity, transgender people and transitioning. Lauren most often works with elementary, middle, and high school kids and their families. She takes pride in being flexible and creative with her approach to meet the needs of various ages and personalities, and incorporates everything from expressive arts, to video games, to mindfulness scripts. For teen and adult clients she strives to help individuals identify the unhelpful beliefs they hold about themselves and learn to love themselves through self-compassion, healthy boundaries, and experiencing empathy in her office. Lauren loves working with clients and parents to help them navigate their lives with calm and confidence.

I have experience working with a variety of clinical challenges including PTSD, anxiety, depression, insomnia and sleep issues, parenting and family therapy, mood and personality disorders, as well as impulse control and anger management.

At some point in our lives, we’ve had to deal with the pain and difficulty of losing our voice. Not our physical voice, but losing the capability to speak up for ourselves. These theoretical orientations allow me to focus on each person individually while finding a solution that is strictly based on their specific needs. While doing so, I can build from here and develop a treatment plan which may allow me to utilize other forms of therapy based on the clients needs.

I work with adults on parenting issues, domestic violence, past trauma, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and depression. I work with adolescents in areas of trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, anger issues, depression, LGBTQ challenges, grief/bereavement, and abuse. I work with couples/families to remove any ongoing barriers and assist with fostering ongoing healthy communication with all members of the family.

I am graduate of West Georgia with a Bachelors of Psychology and received my Master of Professional Counseling from Argosy University. I have been in private practice since 2009 and have extensive counseling experience with individuals and families, specializing in depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and substance abuse. In my work with clients, I provide a non-judgmental, protected space that allows you to process your thoughts and emotions.
