I have specialties in working with attachment/trauma, risky and oppositional behaviors stemming from multiple diagnoses or disorders, the complex issues that arise in foster care or post-adoption, and using a family systems treatment approach.
Is your family navigating significant changes, transitions, or a recent diagnosis or identified learning difference? Is your child struggling with self-esteem, behavior challenges, or anxiety and depression? Do you want to break a cycle of blame and resentment in your intimate relationship, or need a couples tune-up? Are you searching for more fulfillment and less stress in your busy life? These are just a few of the issues I am experienced in treating as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT79984). I offer psychotherapy for children, adolescents, families, couples, and individuals.

My style as a therapist is warm, direct and curious. I strive to form collaborative relationships with clients and utilize a mix of goal setting, treatment planning and exploratory/ open ended work depending on the client's needs and wants. I have 6 years of post graduate specialized training in Gestalt Therapy, a form of psychotherapy that is centered on increasing a person's awareness, freedom, and self-direction. Through my post graduate study, I also gained exposure to systems theory which has informed my therapeutic approach. I also have training in Internal Family Systems (Level 1) and 9 years of clinical experience.

I also use Gestalt, Somatic Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and, in terms of substance use, Abstinence Recovery support (12-Step, etc.
Struggling with relationships? Experiencing the many ways substance use can create pain, whether for you or someone you love? Are you living with a mental health condition that requires support? Identifying limiting beliefs and unhelpful behaviors is an essential step to living an emotionally stable life, whatever difficult crossroads you may be experiencing. Often, emotional recovery begins with healing long-buried childhood trauma. My goal in therapy with you is to be your guide on this healing journey. You don't have to do it alone. And I believe relief can sometimes happen as early as the first session. Licensed in CA and FL.

There isn't one formula that works for everyone, and so I have been trained in a range of modalities including: relational psychodynamic therapy, expressive arts therapy, mindfulness, DBT, transpersonal psychology, and family systems.
Most of us lug around a suitcase full of our thoughts, feelings, family history and past experiences and have no idea what's in there. Our current responses to and experience of life come from the contents of that suitcase. Together in therapy we gently unpack it. We will see what is working for you, what needs more support and what has served it's purpose but no longer works. I work collaboratively and am curious about all the things that make you who you are. I am particularly interested in working with people who feel misunderstood or unimportant.

Using a trauma-informed and evidence-based approach combining cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and family systems theory, I educate all my clients on how behaviors, thoughts, and environment contribute to problems and collaboratively explores effective coping skills to independently manage these problems going forward.
In these difficult times, it’s normal to feel inundated by our stressful environment. Maybe you’re looking for healing, or motivation to realize your full potential. My passion is helping adolescents and adults realize healthy perceptions of themselves while developing resilient habits and lasting coping strategies.

I've created a unique, multi-disciplinary approach that addresses issues in two or more of these areas simultaneously using evidence-based, cutting-edge modalities such as IFS (Internal Family Systems), Brainspotting (for trauma and anxiety) and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for relationship challenges.
Thank you for visiting my profile. I feel honored whenever people allow me into their lives—especially when they don’t know me. As a therapist, my primary areas of focus are trauma, addictions, anxiety and relationships.

My clinical background includes relational psychodynamic and family systems theory, as well as a feminist and social justice perspective.
We are now in a communal health crisis together. It exacerbates feelings of anxiety and depression that we may have, and can make us spin as we try to adjust to Pandemic reality. Many of my clients are parents, people with career questions, immigrants, social justice workers. Many are either coping with a current situational issue that is confusing, overwhelming, or painful, or with a longer term pattern that they would like to change. I work in an engaged manner, hoping to build trust and a collaborative relationship that will allow you to look at old patterns and create new emotional and behavioral options, especially now.

As a therapist, I enjoy cultivating authentic relationships with clients and learning about the communities in which you both thrive in and have endured pain in. I’m curious about how you connect with others and how your past experiences impact your relationships and the energy you carry every day. Cross-cultural differences, family systems, and past trauma can make navigating our interpersonal relationships messy and cloud our thoughts. We’ll explore your narrative and the lens through which you see yourself to better understand and rebuild your relationship with yourself and others.

You don't have to be in crisis for therapy, it's good just to have someone to talk with. I believe Psychotherapy can be a “point in the right direction” to bring change, healing, and a new sense of hope into your life. This is a place you can talk about anything, where you can explore fears, frustrations, hopes and all the parts of yourself. I am a deep and attentive listener, as well as interactive. One of my goals is to give you my "toolbox" so you can manage life outside the office. My niche is couples therapy, relationship issues, family systems, communication and individuals who want to reach their potential.

With couples and families, I work from a relational and family systems perspective which focuses on helping family members understand each other and practice new ways of relating.
I provide contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy for people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, especially in immigrant and cross-cultural families with a history of complex trauma. I believe that our symptoms make sense in the context of our early experiences, family histories, and systems we live in. We learn resilience and survival strategies in difficult situations that may not be sustainable for us now. Therapy has lasting results when it starts with an exploration of who you are as a whole person, not just the symptoms you are experiencing right now.

Family Systems Therapists
Family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family.
