An area of focus in my practice is working with parents, couples and families in times of adjustment and transition, particularly in the early years of parenthood. Parenthood can be very demanding especially when you're trying to maintain a career and relationships with your partner, family and friends. I work with clients to give them communication tools and self-care strategies as well as increasing self-awareness and personal insight.

I'm a Marriage & Family Therapist in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. I work primarily with individuals and some families. I have focus and experience in anger management, relationships, life transitions, and trauma. I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I am also certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). My theoretical orientation is attachment focused, and I frequently employ the use of EMDR. I work with folks of all ages. EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Using the protocols and procedures learned in EMDR, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

I support young people to find their voice, become more self confident, and communicate in a way that expresses their needs. Many times there is a disconnect between behavior and desires. I work closely to increase awareness of why these behaviors are happening and encourage an awareness to begin to identify triggers, with an overall goal of self awareness and self control.

Using a resiliency-focused approach, it doesn’t have to be an ordeal to heal. In fact, neuroscience has shown this is not the best way to work on oneself. Rather, focusing on regulating the nervous system using simple wellness skills and education about the brain and body connection can pave the way toward increased daily well-being as well as lay groundwork for resolving trauma.
