I enjoy working with people from various religious, cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Most of my work has been centered around people managing concurrent mental health diagnoses, life transitions, chronic illnesses, people experiencing a crisis, and people who self-identify as disabled. It is also important for me to work with clients who are new to therapy or hesitant about starting.

Danielle LaPorte asked the question best, “Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” Can you remember when you loved and accepted yourself unapologetically, and embraced all the things about you that make you unique? As we age, we gain knowledge from life experiences and through those experiences we can soar to greatness or we can break and lose sight of who we really are and become someone we were never meant to be. When we become someone less than who we were meant to be we can begin to experience anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss of relationships and functional distress.

First and foremost, therapy should make you feel cared for. A therapist needs to be insightful and honest with a huge dose of compassion. I always remember that it’s not easy for someone to reach out for help. I have over 17 years experience providing psychotherapy and counseling. I provide therapy for adults with anxiety, depression, self-confidence issues, grief and loss, addiction, intimacy, spiritual growth, and difficult life transitions. In addition to being a psychotherapist, I’m a best-selling author of several books and a published researcher. My approach to therapy is person-centered. I work in collaboration with clients,

My treatment approach derives from an accumulation of lived experience, extensive education, and post-graduate internships. This gathering of knowledge has provided me with the inner wisdom to help guide my clients toward clarity and greater emotional intelligence. This is done through a curious and compassionate examination of the self, and ways in which we have allowed our past to define us. I work from a strengths-based and relational model, meaning that trust must be established first before we can “do the work.” I am not keen on diagnosis, but use them instead, as a guide towards how I can best serve you. Family Systems Therapists
Family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family.
