Aloha. I firmly believe parenting is the toughest job in the world, along with being a kid. And, I love working with adolescents!! During thirty years as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I worked in my private practice and for non-profit social service agencies. I also provided mental health services to students in Hawai'i's schools. I work with children, youth, families and adults to help them deal with a variety of issues, including ADHD, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Substance Abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence.
I teach parents new strategies to improve communication with their child, and to improve their student's behavior at school and at home. I work closely with parents to help them effectively work with school systems to get services needed through their child's Special Education and/or 504 services. I am also trained in EMDR to treat Trauma.
I have special training and experience working with children and adult victims of sexual abuse and violent crimes, including legal prosecution and critical debriefing with correctional officers and police personnel.
I also enjoy helping adults navigate choices and changes their retirement may bring. I look forward to working with you!
