My family and I have lived in the Central Texas area for many years. I am familiar with the local area, and coming from a military family, I was raised all over the country. I earned my Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. I specialized in infant, child and adolescent mental health as well as clinical assessment. I have worked in many areas with varying populations such as: the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Evaluation Services at Fort Hood, Scott and White Hospital, Dialysis Clinics, and Veteran's Administration Hospital.

I resonate with them as a mom of older teenagers and a retired military wife. So often "I'm flying blind and making this up as I go." When I get to the end of me, I reach for someone else who "pretends to know" along with me. We need two things when we're overwhelmed--a plan and accountability. In other words, another person who has some idea how to find where I left myself and then how to help me move again in maybe a different direction. With less shame, less pretending. More breathing room.

I am trained in Marriage and Family Therapy and Individual counseling techniques. I have an understanding of the daily stressors of military life as an Army Veteran. I have experience working with the service member and their families both in the military and in the therapeutic setting.

After working in a large group practice in Houston, TX for 7 years, I accepted a faculty position in the Graduate Counseling Program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. I am the training clinic director at UMHB, but I did not want to completely abandon clinical practice. I see a small number of clients part-time in the Temple/Belton area. My job is to provide hope, improve relationships, and increase perceived options for my clients. I provide a safe but productive environment to express frustrations and begin building solutions to the struggles of life.
