Struggling with mental health issues is hard. Whether it's depression, anxiety, loneliness, a family issue, or spiritual concern, our issues leave us feeling exhausted and defeated. The last thing you want when you're experiencing hardship is another piece of advice telling you what to do. You already have the ability to make necessary change but may need a little extra support to get you there. Accepting new clients. We all want to be understood but people who actually listen to us are rare. Many things in the world recently have increased our stress, causing conflicts and straining our relationships. Sometimes we all need a trustworthy, confidential person to talk to who will listen and understand us. For 20+ years, I've provided a safe space for people to talk about their anxiety, fears, and relationships. I listen attentively & without judgement. Hello, my name is Dr. Cortnie S. Baity, LMFT and I am the owner of Onward and Upward Psychotherapy & Consulting Services, LLC., now serving all Florida and Georgia residents. I understand that throughout our life’s journey we all will face difficult moments and/or seasons. In order to grow through these times we must embrace the human species’ primal need for survival: meaningful social engagement.

I see therapy as an interactive journey toward achieving set goals. I believe in providing support for individuals, children, couples, and families through their journeys as a co-pilot. We a systems approach, to work together to recognize patterns in thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships that have developed through your unique experiences. Providing support with issues of grief, depression, anxiety, physical and emotional abuse, divorce, parenting, adjustment, spiritual, and relationship concerns is a priority.

Your relationship doesn’t feel the way you wish it did. Yes, you love each other, but it seems like you fight more often than you don’t these days. Neither of you feels like the other is listening, and you then get caught in cycles you can’t seem to break. Maybe it’s big stuff you’re disagreeing about—money, sex, or parenting—or something seemingly trivial that keeps tripping you up. Or perhaps the relationship you’re struggling with isn’t the one with your partner, but a parent or sibling. Whatever it is you’re facing, you both believe reconnection & repair is possible, and you’re ready to get the support you need to do that.

While this idea sounds somewhat simple, putting the past behind us; especially a traumatic one, can be easier said than done. In my work with individuals, I embrace a philosophy that helps people explore their past experiences in order to better understand their present day ones. Additionally, because I believe God to be the source of all things; healing and hope included, I will utilize a faith-based approach in session if desired by prospective clients.
