I promote growth and potential. My clinical focus has been primarily in treating anxiety, depression, grief and complicated grief. I use the creative arts to promote the healing process. I work with primarily preteens, adolescents, and adults. My main focus of treatment is working with clients who are struggling with emotional issues, whether they are situational or due to a diagnosed mood and/or personality disorder. Additionally, I specialize in treating clients who have both emotional issues and substance abuse problems. I have worked in the mental health and addictions field for the past 20 years and feel that most substance abuse issues are the symptom of an underlying emotional problem. Music therapy is a modality I offer to clients who may struggle with traditional "talk therapy".

I have over 20 years of experience in both Psychotherapy and Board-Certified Music Therapy where I am trained in both Psychotherapeutic and Medical Models. I enjoy working with those individuals ages 2 through end of life. My life’s work as a teacher, medical worker, trainer, clinician and clinical supervisor have prepared me to treat various patients by providing psychotherapy to other professionals such as physicians, attorneys, bankers, front line medical and auxiliary workers. Helping others to heal is my passion.

In my own life, I know of peace and progress, as well as periods of anxiety. I know the joys and disappointments of love in family life. I believe in a healthy lifestyle but know what it’s like to have trouble getting off the couch. I have a wandering mind, yet I benefit from meditating daily. Being a therapist is good for me because every hour with a client is an hour where I am in the present moment. I can be with someone and get out of my own head. Feeling empathy is healing to me, even as it is very difficult, at times, to feel the raw pain of another. It is a constant reminder to me that we are not alone in the world.
