I am currently working with all ages of clients and enjoy every developmental stage of life, however I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults. I have a good deal of clinical experience in treating clients with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and anger issues. I've worked with many children whose parents are going through divorce or separation and the many issues which stem from such a family disruption. Another client population that I frequently see is gay and lesbian individuals of all ages.

Life is about relationships: Couples, Marriage, Families, Friends, Co-Workers. However, broken promises, lost love, abandonment, endless conflict, lack of trust, addictions, loss of intimacy, anger and avoidance all create fear, pain, rejection and loneliness. Life can be hard. Unfortunately, despite our best planning efforts, life rarely goes how we want it. That can often leave us feeling discouraged, anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, frustrated and many other emotions. I am passionate about helping others get through some of the hardest and some of the best seasons of their life. I know that it can be hard and scary to give counseling a try or it seems your problems aren’t big enough to go to counseling, but I say that there is never anything too small or too big to bring into the counseling room.

I enjoy working with youth, adolescents, young adults, and middle-aged adults with a variety of needs such as low self-esteem, poor self-image, depression, anxiety, trauma, thoughts of suicide, peer relationships, family conflicts, identity issues, and life transitions. My services focus on regaining a sense of control over triggers that have caused difficulty in daily functioning by providing coping skills.

I love Mississippi and I love meeting the people who live here. I believe everyone has a story and I consider it an honor to be in a position to hear those stories. I come from a Christian perspective and the interventions I use are congruent with my beliefs and values. The primary interventions I use are from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and other proven family therapy models. Many of my clients enter therapy for the first time not knowing what to expect. As your therapist, I will explain the therapy process and paint a clear picture of where we are going. I work to provide an empathetic, safe environment for all of my clients, but I am especially skilled at helping clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transition & existential issues. My training also equips me to work with couples and families struggling with a wide variety of challenges. Some of these may include infidelity, parenting issues, and pre-marital counseling. I offer interactive, creative, and innovative approaches to many of the challenging issues facing families and their children here in North Mississippi. I am passionate about involving caregivers in the therapeutic process and facilitating change by helping all participates feel validated and understood.

I truly love helping people discover just how precious and important they are to the world around them. I do not like to see people suffer. I know what that feels like. I believe that the client has, within himself or herself, the ability to find his or her way to wellness when they are given the right person to accompany them on that way. Moreover, I have discovered that when the client is given the opportunity to safely explore his or her self and how they relate to the world around them that they arrive at healthier understandings how they exist in their worlds. When they do, they gain agency and the capacity to heal.

I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of practice settings over the past 20 years. My primary area of interest and training is working with children under the age of 10 dealing with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, autism, developmental delay, divorce, grief, medical issues, behavioral problems, and more. I believe children have limitless potential for growth and they have an innate capacity for resiliency. I also believe that parents and primary caregivers play a critical role in a child's recovery and a joint approach to working with children is essential to healing.

I am honored to be working with Wright Counseling Group here in Oxford. I have spent the past 22 years as a school counselor helping teenagers and elementary students, families, and staff. Counseling is my greatest joy and passion. I look forward to working with both adults and children in the therapeutic setting. I specialize in building resiliency, anxiety, depression, grief, anger management, relationship issues, and many other needs that clients bring to session. I am person centered, tailoring my work to prescriptively meet the needs of my clients. I incorporate mindfulness, art therapy, CBT, Gestalt, and attachment theory.

I have a wide range of clients that I enjoy working with. I am trained in EMDR, which is a trauma-focused therapy. I really enjoy seeing clients heal their past traumas and find new growth in their life. I am also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and really enjoy utilizing this model with couples. I am also an equine therapist.
