I am the Executive Director of B.Y.R.D. House. I have over 20 years experience working with children and families. B.Y.R.D. House utilizes Cognitive Behavior Therapy Treatment. Hey there! Just jumping in... I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Professional Counseling from Johnson University in Knoxville, TN. I also received my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana Monroe. I enjoy connecting with individuals, couples and parents to help strengthen and empower these relationships to flourish beyond many circumstances. I mostly work with adults 18 and older. Most of my clients are facing relational challenges due to areas that are out of balance in their lives. At the present time, I have about 150 clients. I spend much time working with people with high levels of stress, anxiety and depression. My greatest strengths are in Marriage & Family and Youth Counseling due to the fact that I look for root problems in the lives of people and find ways to retrain them so that they can be much more functional. I am passionate about helping young people live life in wholeness. I see ages nine and up. My areas of specialty are ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors, stress management, school-related issues, and family transitions. I'm trained in EMDR, a therapy technique for those who've experienced trauma.
