I help parents, coparents, families and parent-kid combos who are ready to find more delight and ease in their family life.
If your kids would just let you, you would be such a good parent. You’re so tired of fighting with them over getting out of the bath or getting into the bath - and sometimes you lose that fight. Arguing has become the norm. You don’t want to be a drill sergeant, but it would be such a relief if they just did what you asked without turning it into World War III. You want to respect their big feelings, but you also want your littles to respect you. You haven’t found a way out of this cycle and you worry that you’re ruining your kids.

Your growth should not mean additional stress, overworking, or sacrificing your health, time with family, or other life priorities.
Are you and your co-founder and business partner on the verge of a transition or expansion? You’ve put in tremendous effort to build your business, overcoming countless obstacles. While you’re proud of your achievements, the long hours and dedication have taken a toll on you both. You want your business to have a greater impact, but you're also fearful of losing the original spirit and dream as the expansion gains momentum. Before moving forward, address the cracks in the foundations of your business and partnership, and further grow your capacities. Misalignments make transitions and expansions even more difficult and complicated.

I understand that human beings are multifaceted. It can be hard to understand why you think and behave the way you do. You may experience conflicting feelings that lead you in circles or undermine your deepest wishes or goals. You may also be grappling with loss, life transition, family conflict, and the end of a relationship. You may struggle with a new role as a step-parent or new spouse. Life events and transitions can be disruptive and confusing. In therapy, we discover that challenging times lead us to grow into ourselves more fully and authentically.

Caring for a dependent person with whom you have a previous history is uniquely challenging. Family histories and dynamics do not go away when someone gets sick. In addition to juggling the tasks of helping a dependent family member get through the day, caregivers are balancing obligations such as work, parenting and other responsibilities. One's own health and wellbeing, finances, and other roles and relationships can all be affected by the demands of caregiving. Finding balance and coping with ambiguity can be challenging, especially in the presence of emotional undercurrents such as grief, loss, resentment, guilt and overwhelm.

I have Master's Degrees in Counseling Psychology and Women's Studies and the core of my work with clients brings both disciplines together to better understand life experiences by looking critically though the lenses of race, class, gender, sexuality, as well as, family of origin, cognition and behavior.
As we navigate these seemingly endless tumultuous times, having someone reliable to talk to about what we're experiencing that is outside of our immediate bubble can feel like the life boat we need to stay afloat. I can be that person for you. Together we can explore which coping strategies are working for you and which aren't, and how to get to a place that feels a bit more stable and manageable. You will gain insight that will help you now and in the future so that you can live your best life, even when challenges abound.

Bilingual and culturally informed, I have extensive experience with Latino youth and families within the themes of bicultural family systems, migration/assimilation, transgenerational trauma and cultural identity.
The word “heal” comes from “to make whole.” Psychotherapy, more aptly psyche-therapy, is a sacred process of tending to the soul wound and waking more fully to one’s aliveness and inherent wholeness. I am deeply passionate about supporting you in healing the fragmented and disowned parts of self that hinder you from living a life of meaningful connections, purposeful self-agency and joy. We work collaboratively to creatively transform unconscious and limiting belief structures, access your resiliencies, welcome emerging truths, skillfully navigate adversity with new tools, and integrate insights for profound and evolving change.

I approach my work from a family systems perspective, which means I know that if there's a problem in the family it's a problem that needs to be solved together, not by putting the blame all on one person.
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. If you're looking for some help for your teen, family, or yourself you've come to the right place. I can help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and communication issues along with many others. I really like using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, and nervous system education to help my clients.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
