As a marriage and family therapist, my professional training was focused on treating couple and family-based issues. I particularly enjoy working with couples who feel disconnected and at a loss for how to communicate and feel close again, those who long for more vulnerability and honesty in their relationships, and who recognize the need to work together through their individual "baggage" in order to create healthier connection. I work well with people who are motivated to challenge their inner dialogue in an effort to grow and change their present reality. Depression, Anxiety, and Grief limit our perspectives. Achieving balance internally with thoughts and emotions can lead to a healthier sense of self, more fulfilling relationships, and a broader vision of what a positive future can hold. Attachment struggles hinder our ability to connect with others in a way that doesn't sacrifice our own identity. Boundaries, knowledge of emotional needs, and effective communication are the goals to adaptive attachment. We can address any of these areas in sessions.

My passion lies in supporting, advocating, lifting, and encouraging people when they are in their darkest moments. I enjoy helping people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and family and relational conflict. My biggest strength as a therapist and clinician is that I am my patients advocate and help to empower, creating strong rapport, being honest, genuine, and non-judgmental. My goal is to help patients live rich, full, and meaningful lives, and only my patients can determine what that means for them. Now specializing in EMDR; an innovative technique helping reduce PTSD symptoms, trauma, anxiety and more.

I've provided over 10,000 hours of therapy and like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I managed LDS Family Services for 13 years and loved directing the 12-step Addiction Recovery Program in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. I've been recruited by multiple residential treatment centers, a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and by an IOP program assessing and treating substance abuse and domestic violence.

I have a friendly, client centered approach focused on healing and becoming your best self. I specialize in individual/couples and family counseling. My experience enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. I treat a number of mental health disorders, and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples.

I have been blessed to enjoy a wonderful family, with four boys and their spouses, and soon to be 8 grandchildren. I have worked almost 30 years at Brigham Young University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). My work has been mainly with young adults, adults, and couples. I have specialized in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have also worked with many undergoing faith crises and exploring their sexual identity.

Teens: I didn’t start working with teens, it sort of happened organically. Now, several years later, I just had the mother of one of my clients tell me she waited several months to get her kid into “The Teen Whisperer”. I had to laugh as that was the first time I had heard that. My wife and I have a blended family with 8 kids. I LOVE working with teens and helping them achieve their ultimate potential. Teens are open to new ideas, new ways of thinking, and they are very curious. Let me help your teen get on the right track! I provide individual therapy for adults, adolescents, and children. I also provide couples therapy, family therapy, pre-marital therapy, and parental training.
