All of us experience struggles at some point in our life. Often these struggles begin in childhood and leave negative imprints on our lives for years. Other individuals may have uneventful childhoods, but find themselves struggling in adulthood with unexpected life events such as family and relational issues, death and dying, chronic illness, anxiety and depression, to name a few. Finding a trusting therapist to walk with you while providing objective insight can often be the difference between just struggling through life, or experiencing your best life and thriving.

I have two Masters degrees, Professional Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.
We are hiring Mental Health Professionals! Contact us if interested! Developing personal strength and worth is the core of therapy with me. This happens through learning self-acceptance and no longer feeling shame about our life story. How does this happen? First, we develop a safe and trusting relationship between client and therapist. Then, we work together to process the client's story through narrative, Somatic Experiencing, restorative art work, and other modalities appropriate for the client. I desire my clients to walk away from our session experiencing a deeper sense of meaning and having new tools to continue to heal.

Sometimes, life sucks. It’s not fair. It’s messy. There are times when it seems like more than you can handle. It can feel like, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t catch a break. You might believe everyone around you is succeeding, while you are stuck. It can feel hopeless, scary, and beyond repair.

You might be experiencing anxiety, depression, a life transition, or relationship or family concerns.
You feel overwhelmed and burnt out by the world’s expectations. If you're honest, you feel lost and alone, and your relationships are suffering. You wish you were free from the lies you’ve been believing – the thing is, they don’t feel like lies anymore; they’ve become background noise and they feel so true. Whether it’s about who you are or how you're showing up in your relationships, there's a voice telling you that you're not good enough, not worth it, and don’t deserve to be happy. My work is focused on helping you grow in self-awareness, knowing your value, and uprooting destructive beliefs while replacing them with new truths.

I enjoy clients of all ages and stages, including couples and family therapy as well.
My clients often come to me with life transition issues (teens, parenting challenges, relationship issues, major life events, trauma) and are experiencing a loss of identity, lack of direction and symptoms of pervasive anxiety . Together we explore with compassion for the journey to this point, identifying the life worth living and develop a cohesive treatment plan to meet those goals. Through peeling back layers of an onion, we tackle areas of trauma, hurt, shame as we grow empathy for self and tools to start actively changing the cycle of pain. My proudest moment is when a client is able to step down in treatment as goals are met.

This work is challenging, but the rewards are great! Being able to bring a family together and to help children become happy and productive is my passion!.
I am a pediatric psychotherapist with many years of experience working with children who show that they are not functioning well at home and school with "negative" behaviors or anxiety. Outbursts of anger, sadness, and fear, not following directions, arguing, and crying make life difficult for the family and the child. I help the child to understand themselves and help teach them how to function to the best of their ability. I guide and support parents to manage the behaviors and bring about family harmony. I enjoy helping a child to gain self-esteem and the "I Can Do It" attitude.

Hi! My name is Adriana Quintero, I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I own a small practice called Heirloom & Ember Counseling located in Flower Mound, Texas. I am down-to-earth, relatable, and it is my priority that you or your loved one feel cared for. I use a direct and compassionate approach by integrating as much psycho education in the room as possible. I do this because I believe, nothing helps us change more than intellectual, emotional, and relational awareness.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
