I’ve been trained in Neuropsychological trauma through the lens of the Neuro-sequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) as well as TF-CBT, CBT, EMDR, experiential therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experience, and humanistic psychotherapy.
Do you often find yourself minimizing or ignoring feelings like anxiety or sadness because they’re too difficult to deal with? Or telling yourself you shouldn’t complain because you have good things in your life? Do you find yourself checked out? Avoiding people, events, and conversations? Feeling our emotions can be overwhelming and, without help, can lead us to get stuck in fight, flight, or freeze. To better understand your past and what brought you here, we’ll reflect on the role stress has played in your life. You’ll be equipped with the necessary coping skills to be present and enjoy your life. Let’s begin–I’m here with you.

With that in mind, I take a collaborative approach to therapy and work towards providing the family with support while meeting my clients individual needs.
I work with children, teens, parents, young adults, and families (nuclear, separation/divorce, and blended). Counseling is BIG stuff, and it takes courage to start the process. I believe that each of us has the ability to make powerful, positive, growth-oriented changes in their lives. I strive to build a relationship of trust with my clients so we can tackle life's chaos and challenges. Unique to me, I like to employ humor into my sessions and engage with my clients through different modalities aside from traditional talk therapy including games, art, music, and writing.

When you were young, did you ever promise yourself that your long-term relationship wasn't going to end up like the ones you saw in your family? You didn't want to have to argue all of the time, you wanted open and vulnerable communication where you and your partner could be yourself, and you definitely did not want any heated arguments, loneliness, or resentment. You thought if you married your best friend, asked the right questions, figured out your careers and values, and communicated enough, you could avoid the discontent you saw in other couples. And now you are here, despite your best efforts.

Our emotions, behaviors and relationships can be overwhelming to make sense of. Having the support of an unbiased perspective can help as we grow beyond the things that cause us discomfort. As a systems therapist, I understand the issues brought into the therapy in relation to the school, work, relational, societal and intergenerational systems involved. Yes, that does mean talking about your parents and how the messages you received in your family have shaped you. It also means talking about the ways culture, race, sexuality, work environments and history affect the ways we feel and behave.

My professional career as a licensed family and relational therapist is entirely focused on the field of men’s mental and emotional health and wellness – helping deliver personalized, effective and enduring practices that enhance relationships and individual life pursuits.
Men have never lost the desire to explore. This desire frequently leads men to seek alternative ways to navigate the spinning world around them, including their own potential. Chances are, if you’re exploring this website, you’re feeling a disconnect between the life you envision and what you’re actually experiencing. And you’ve realized this disconnect shows up in the form of emotional distress, up and down relationships, and/or doubt about where your life is taking you. Maybe it's time to consider a new road map.

I am especially trained to work with clients experiencing eating disorders, trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, and family/relationship issues.
Hi and welcome! It's a brave and vulnerable step to consider therapy, so I acknowledge the strength it took you to take this first step to find help. You may be feeling low, burnt out, anxious, traumatized, and in need of a break. While there are no quick fixes in therapy, I have helped many clients build resilience, find peace, and gain strength. Prior to my role as therapist, I worked at an inpatient psychiatric facility and in a DBT IOP, but therapy is my favorite. I value it in my own life, and I put a lot into the work I do with clients.

Addiction is very much a family disease that instigates and amplifies complex wounds.
To move confidently into our future, we must resolve the past while remaining grounded in the present. Everyone is capable recreating their lives and expanding upon their healing, but this process often requires deeper insight into who we are, what we’ve been through, and what beliefs we’ve accumulated because of these experiences. I’m here to help you manage the challenges that come with tackling a new life in recovery, guide awareness into what initiated the destructive cycle to begin with, and support you to reach new goals beyond just getting sober.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
