The mission of Family Builders Counseling Services is to provide the community with a full service of counseling and mental health support. Our purpose is to help clients achieve their goals and educate them through the counseling process. I believe that supporting clients with a spiritual, psychological, social and biological model of counseling allows for the client to examine their lives fully. This wholeness counseling can provide clients with the skills to achieve a more productive and satisfying life.

Taking that first step towards healing and self-improvement can be difficult but you don’t have to take that step alone. As a licensed counselor with over 30 years of experience in mental health, I have the knowledge, experience and insight to walk alongside you. My approach is based on a collaborative relationship as we work together toward healing and meaningful change. I meet clients where they are in life and support them with compassion and empathy. My goal is to provide a safe space, where we can explore root causes of problems and develop a plan for self-awareness that will promote personal growth and positive change.

We all face difficult challenges or situations that affect our way of life, who we are, and our social/family environments resulting in hurt, pain, depression, anxiety, feeling of grief/loss, and need to be validated and accepted. No one should go through these challenges alone as I meet you where you are in life's travels and assist you in navigating these difficulties with my years of experience and education. Email is the best means of communication. There are times when our past can creep up into our present and take charge. Doing the best we can with the skills we have, we attempt to triumph over pain, heartache, trauma, fears, etc. However, there are times when we feel broken no matter how hard we try to put the pieces back together. Although we cannot change the past, we can put the pieces back together and still be beautiful; different yet beautiful. I like to think of therapy like the art of kintsugi, putting our broken pieces back together with a gold bond.

Dr. Yelder is also a verified Service Connected Disabled Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
