Mindful Tides Therapy was formed to provide an atmosphere for our clients to individualize their goals. We recognized the decrease in quality client care through the “big box” therapy practices that are owned by those who are not clinicians themselves, and it was important for us to provide a safe space for clients to have input into their treatment plans. Our goal is to aid our clients in finding a secure, collaborative, compassionate, and ethical therapy environment. It is a priority for us to provide our team of therapists with the training and work/life balance they need to practice comfortably.

I am honest, empathetic, kind, and will work really hard for you. I adapt to your needs and goals and will do additional research to make sure you get the care I would expect my family to get. I know what it feels like to have the wrong therapist. As a youth, I had overcome a lot of trauma and was paired with a rude therapist that I could not connect with. I sought out to make a real difference. I am dedicated to helping you find your path to healing and making a legitimate difference.

I use my training in Marriage and Family therapy to help couples/families increase their relationship satisfaction and their emotional well being.
I know life can be difficult at times. I want to help you find a sense of peace and well being. I enjoy treating couples/families that are dealing with conflict and/or trust and communication issues. I also assist women that are experiencing emotional issues and/or have experienced past trauma. I use a combination of emotional support, understanding, and empathy to assist with inner turmoil and relationship repairs. I hope to assist clients with finding a healthy balance between self-love and relationship health. I work for Catholic Charities, but I am not a faith based therapist. All clients, beliefs, and struggles are welcome!

I welcome the chance to work with you as create loving relationships with yourself and within your family and find the peace you have been seeking.
Do you find it difficult to let go of painful feelings and unhealthy reactions even when you understand their roots? Are you anxious or on guard as you try to protect yourself even when you feel you *should* be happy? Sometimes overwhelming experiences get stuck in our bodies, and continue to determine our emotions, behaviors, and relationship styles despite our best efforts. Through a nurturing and interactive approach, I help individuals, families and groups shift out of these stuck places to create deep and lasting change.

I have experience working with trauma, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, ADHD, school and behavioral concerns, stress and emotion management, life transitions, wellness and self-care, and family conflict.
I view counseling as a collaborative process between the client and the therapist, with the client being the expert on their own lives. My ultimate goal at a therapist is to support my clients in achieving the goals they set for themselves. My background includes working with adolescents in a residential treatment and hospital setting, working as a school-based mental health provider, providing counseling services in a university counseling center to undergraduate students, and working with clients ages 5 through 75 in an outpatient setting.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
