Do you find yourself yearning for connection, yet struggle to voice your wants and needs in your relationships? Are you navigating the complexities of relationships, grappling with the pressure to be "perfect" and make family, friends, and partners happy? Do you feel out of control when different emotions emerge, leaving you afraid and isolated? Are you tired of seeking outside approval? Tired of feeling small and quiet? Maybe you have an understanding where some of these challenges you face have come from. Maybe you're seeking deeper understanding. Whatever it may be, I can help you navigate the problems you're facing internally.

I believe that understanding ourselves and how we've been impacted by life experiences is essential for personal growth. Through self-exploration, clients can identify behavior patterns and life perspectives that no longer meet their needs. Clients will be empowered to develop approaches to obstacles that allow them to connect to their strengths. In my practice I integrate: EMDR, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavior therapy, internal family systems and mindfulness work.

We use different techniques focusing on the body & mind connection, discussing memories and family dynamics.
Our clients come to us at points where they are caught in waves of emotional turbulence. Feeling these strong emotions of anxiety and/or depression can be confusing. You may feel alone and unable to break these cycles, but our therapy practice can help you through this struggle to discover positive change. We believe it is our responsibility to provide a safe and contained space for any person to explore their feelings and thoughts without judgment. Thinking about who we are, what our motivations are, and how we established our worldview is a powerful and healing experience. We provide support to individuals, couples and families.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I like to think systemically.
Ideal clients are open to change, introspection, and vulnerability. Therapy can be a scary process; We look at ourselves and our lives with the goals of making a change for the better, or maybe a deeper understanding of ourselves. It's my goal to build a relationship with you so we can explore yourself, and your life together, in a safe and enlightening way. It's my experience that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. Feeling safe with your therapist is paramount, and it's what I prioritize in my own practice. I want you to feel comfortable to be vulnerable, and explore yourself.

I focus on being culturally-humble and respectful of my clients. I work with individuals, families, and couples. I offer counseling for depression, anxiety, life transitions, systemic oppression, dysfunctional family dynamics, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem issues, and unresolved trauma. I believe the healing process is a journey, which must involve the whole being: mind, body, and spirit and view the individual as multidimensional.

Life can be so overwhelming between work, family, friends and daily responsibilities. Between the whirlwind of emotions experienced throughout the day and balancing the needs of all the people in our lives, it can be so hard to breathe and prioritize ourselves. We can find ourselves saying "yes" to tasks and events when we really should say "no." We can find ourselves overthinking our to-do lists and feeling overwhelmed, sad or anxious at the end of the day. But learning to set boundaries, communicate your needs and cope with a multitude of emotions is possible with a safe, non-judgmental space that prioritizes comfort and trust.

I live in New York City and I understand the challenges of balancing professional and family life in a fast-paced urban environment.
Did you move to NY to succeed but you are not where you thought you would be? Do you often question your career choices and can’t seem to find the best “next step”? Do you catch yourself criticizing your life on a daily basis? Whether you are an immigrant or simply relocating from another state, Gotham inevitably captures you. I know that it sounds cliché but the energy of the city is present in every sector. And you will soon realize, if you have not already, that when you work and/or reside in an environment surrounded by thousands of talented people your desire to succeed becomes even greater.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
