I am passionate about working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and family or relationship conflicts.
When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. - I genuinely believe that every person is deserving of love, respect, and acceptance solely because they are human. By providing individuals with a safe, caring, and supportive environment, I believe that they can be empowered to become the best version of themselves. My heart is for individuals who feel like no one understands or listens to them, that can be crippling. But together, we can help you create a meaningful life even in the face of difficulties.

Specialty areas include individual, couples and family counseling for those who have experienced loss of loved ones, substance use disorders, life transitions such as divorce and career changes, aging, stress, anxiety and depression.
One of my favorite quotes by Melody Beattie conveys the essence of our counseling relationship: “Learn to listen to your inner voice. Listen to your heart. It’s your connection to God, to people, to the universe, and to yourself." My goal is to create a safe and positive environment allowing you an opportunity to explore and grow in self-awareness as you learn more about how to identify new strategies and cope with your circumstances in healthy ways. I believe in the power of individuals to change as they work toward common goals with their therapist, drawing upon person-centered and cognitive behavioral approaches.

As a former athlete, my focus includes working with athletes who are experiencing increased academic strains, longer playing seasons, pressure from coaches, family, injuries, social anxiety, depression, and other personal life stressors which affect the clients athletic/academic performance.
“To appreciate the sun, you gotta know what rain is.” – J Cole. I believe in "trusting the process”. Therapy entails patience and participation when learning how to cope with emotions and/or life stressors. The most significant component of effective therapy is a good "fit" with the therapist. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, I provide a safe, reliable, trusting and encouraging environment for clients to express themselves with no judgment. I strongly believe in meeting my clients where they are, as we all have different starting points. I provide therapy to adolescents, adults, athletes, and LGBTQIA+ community.

It is anxiety-provoking to put ourselves in a position of vulnerability and open up about our struggles. I believe taking this risk can be well worth it if you connect with the right person. As a therapist I am someone who will listen to you with respect and provide validation of your emotional experiences. I will also encourage you to consider alternative ways of interpreting your experiences. I am someone who has had her own challenges with anxiety and depression and grew up in a family with their own mental health issues.

I am here to help you build a healthier life for your family.
Accepting new clients! I am passionate about working with children and their families. Children are learning about the world around them and they often don't know what their feelings mean or how to communicate them quite yet. When children have been through stressful things, it is even harder for them to express their feelings. And those feelings can come out of kids in big ways! As adults, we can struggle to understand how to help young ones when their emotions get really big. As their adult, you want to help your child and you also need someone to support you. That is where I can help.

I work with people of all ages and a wide variety of struggles through individual, couple, and family therapy.
Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. If you are looking for things to change and are willing to work with me, things can get better. So many clients enter therapy with apprehension and a lack of hope for things to improve. I focus my practice on creating trust and getting my clients back on track as quickly and as comfortably as possible. Therapy begins with an end in mind and you and I would work together to make sure we are always making progress towards goals.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
