Want to enjoy more family activities but worried about your child's behavior? You've received several calls from school, they have difficulty participating in extracurricular activities and the stress from trying to manage it all just continues to mound and is leaving you frustrated. This is not the family lifestyle you imagined. The vision of your family includes unconditional love, resilience and fun but you are unsure what to do and where to start.

Are you feeling stuck, lost, or don't know what to do? Let me help. I work with girls ages 10 and up, and women experiencing eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and ARFID. If you or someone you love is experiencing an eating disorder, it can be isolating, frustrating, scary, and all consuming. Often people do not fully understand why this is controlling their life, how it began, and can feel unable to make changes. Allow me to come along side you so we can uncover the root causes of the disorder and make meaningful changes in your life, and help you become the person I know you can.

Click in website link to schedule an intake. I truly get it and understand how real- life demands can create barriers to getting help. Maybe, for various reasons the things you have tried haven't fully worked. Of things that can impact our mental health, the impact of trauma is by far one of the things that can interfere with our ability to move with ease in life and can impact so many areas of our life. Sometimes feeling emotionally overwhelmed, shut down or on overdrive, trauma can leave us blocked from our full potential leaving us depressed and frustrated, questioning why you feel stuck.

Are you feeling exhausted, defeated, or overwhelmed? Does your best feel like it's never enough? I’m glad you’re here. Our darkest or most hectic times are often when we feel the most isolated and unheard. Therapy can help you find the light you need, and help you reconnect to the world and yourself. Pause, and give yourself credit for taking a step toward bettering your mental health today. I believe that you already have the strength & resilience within you to heal and grow, sometimes we all just need some help. Above all else, I want you to know that it’s okay not to be okay & that it’s possible for things to get better.

You already have the answers you need. All you need is someone to listen as you figure out what you already know or encourage you to make the changes you need. You may need permission to take a step, set a boundary, or leave an unhealthy relationship. Counseling allows you to let down walls, process pain, and gain insight from a trusted, neutral person without fear of judgment. I work with adults and couples experiencing relational pain, anxiety, depression, and various life transitions - including premarital. You can always reach out, and I can help determine if we're a good fit. If not, I'll help you find someone who is.

Sometimes life comes at you fast. Unexpected events occur or transitions happen. That's what makes life exciting, but also challenging at times. Whether it be a job transition, adjusting to a new family, relationship issues or trying to find your way as a parent during the teenage years (or navigating life as a teenager yourself!), these experiences can often cause stress in our lives. As a result, you might find yourself not sleeping well, feeling anxious, experiencing low self-esteem, anger and sadness. You often wonder, when will everything get better and I'll feel like myself again?

I incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, positive psychology, solutions-focused therapy, and internal family systems therapy methods.
I primarily work with teenagers, older children, families, and young adults. I feel that adolescents have their entire future in front of them, and it is the most opportune time to learn positive thinking patterns, coping skills, and life strategies. Teenagers are at a pivotal point in their lives, facing many large life decisions. Having a neutral person to be open with in life is invaluable. I have worked with clients through many challenges such as (not limited to) depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, trauma, grief, self-harm, self-esteem, sexual identity, school struggles, behavioral/impulse challenges, and anger management.

Nature's Way Holistic Counseling offers clinical mental health counseling with the addition of a health and wellness framework that connects the body, mind, and spirit. We believe in the term "holistic" counseling because our minds are not independent of all other aspects of life, but is dependent upon the complex, interconnected factors of life, including the food we eat, the environment in which we live, and the content we consume. Although some counseling services address these topics on some level, there is a gap in the field of practitioners offering such a comprehensive evaluation.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
