It has been a privilege in my many years of experience to work with clients struggling to find their way at a particular time in their life. I find it is often a state of worry, doubt, confusion or stress and yet they still have the hope that someone will reach out to help. I can help guide you across that bridge. In therapy, we together establish a collaborative and trusting relationship in which we will set specific goals that you want to address. I use a variety of successful treatment modalities to assist you in dealing with these challenges.

I specialize in working with the neurodiverse community (all ages) and draw from a wealth of experience to provide psycho-education, validation, empathy, and strategies. I hold space for processing the challenges while also working to identify strengths. When working with children, I utilize play therapy to focus on building your child’s understanding of their ADHD brain, equip them with skills to both understand and communicate what they are feeling, improve self-control, and increase their confidence. This often helps reduce the intensity of emotions that can be otherwise felt and expressed in BIG ways!

As a systemic therapist, I welcome individuals, couples, children, and family systems into the room. I believe in creating a non-judgmental and open context that will often draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Mindfulness-based strategies. I received my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University and was selected as the Student of the Year by the faculty.

I have been working with children since 1994. I worked for Mecklenburg County Early Intervention Services from 1994-2008, providing service coordination as well as specializing in educational services, helping to enhance the development in children from ages 0-3. I became a stay-at-home Mom until receiving my master’s in social work and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I worked for an agency providing Behavioral Mental Heath Services for children between the ages of 4-17.

Counseling may look different for children, teens, and adults however the goals are often the same. Reduce distress, cope more effectively, and find more happiness in life. A specialty of mine is working with individuals with ADHD and Autism. Each person's journey to wellness is different, so I meet each client where they are at providing support and validation. Counseling is a great place to work on understanding yourself, others, and gain helpful coping skills.

I think one of the greatest honors and privileges I have as a counselor is walking alongside my clients throughout their journeys – through some of their darkest and most challenging moments.
