What makes people stronger when they they have faced so much adversity? I started my career focused on how to help people become more resilient, and along the way I have learned so much, not just about overcoming obstacles, but also about building up strengths.

I have been helping families, frustrated parents and students who are struggling for well over a decade. My practice includes individual & family therapy, communication skills, education, modification of "behaviors" and helping families understand more of the “why” behind how we act and a deeper understanding of what we feel and how to make appropriate changes

My mission as a therapist is to help heal through relationships. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health and wellness while also prioritizing a person centered approach to counseling. As a trained school counselor, I have experience working with children in kindergarten through twelfth grade, in both independent and public school settings. I have taken this experience and passion for counseling and have created a practice that is focused on helping families on a deeper level.

I enjoy working with children, teens, adults, and their families. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy. Finding a good "fit" with a therapist can be challenging. I strive to quickly put clients at ease and provide a safe space where we can work together to identify your strengths and skills, process significant life events, communicate your feelings, develop positive coping strategies, and provide support. My work with children and families is based on building safe, supportive relationships. I carefully consider individual, couple and family strengths and needs, providing therapeutic direction based upon this. A combination of child development, mindfulness, and family systems informs my work. I use play therapy, sandtray, narrative-storytelling tools, practical skill building, arts, and parent coaching in my practice. The power of relationships and the recognition of one's strengths are emphasized throughout our work together.

I counsel individuals and families of every age in Northern Michigan. We address a variety of emotional problems such as anger, anxiety, depression, cutting, social phobia, grief, and life transitions. I have a long-term interest in treating people in crisis and working with those suffering from a traumatic experiences. Couples also come to find ways to rebuild relationships. I also work with parents to help them resolve behavioral problems.

Kaleidoscope Counseling specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I am experienced in working with trauma such as sexual or physical abuse, parenting issues, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorder. All Counseling is confidential with a personalized approach for each client. The goal of therapy at Kaleidoscope Counseling is to help develop skills and techniques to navigate your life journey.
