Hi! My name is Aditi - I am a bilingual, bicultural first generation immigrant psychologist in the Greater Boston area. I offer a supportive and confidential space for you to explore your experiences, perhaps things you might not talk as openly to family or friends about and find ways to regulate your stress, reduce overwhelming feelings and weave new patterns of relating to yourself and others in your life. I provide therapy that is interpersonally oriented, affirming and culturally responsive. Together, we will work to set goals and build coping skills that help you navigate any changes and challenges in your life.

Sometimes you can feel all alone even when you are with your friends and family.
My ideal client is someone who needs to have those difficult conversations and requires a safe environment to have them in. Clients do not always have a goal initially and that is perfectly okay. This is not about having a goal as it is about beginning the journey.

I specialize in helping individuals facing a spectrum of challenges, including anxiety, depression, family issues, trauma, and behavioral struggles.
Therapy is a powerful avenue for receiving guidance, fostering personal growth, and overcoming the challenges we face both in the present and those that lie ahead. As a therapist, my goal is to cultivate a space of safety and support, where individuals can embark on their voyage of self-discovery and healing. As a Latinx who immigrated to the US as a teen, I have had the opportunity to experience two different cultures. Through this, I have learned and continue to overcome the challenges that arise. I am committed to empowering individuals in navigating life's complexities, forging resilience, and uncovering their inherent strength.

I'm not a regular therapist, I am a slightly uncool, warm and fuzzy therapist. Life isn't something we should be expected to take on alone. I would be proud to be part of your community and walk alongside you in this journey. I am here to support you in the good moments and the tough ones, too. My passion is caring for other BIPOC individuals’ mental health as they experience an array of life's transitions—higher education, struggling with emerging adulthood, early career & helping professionals, postpartum, parenthood, LGBTQ+ identity, children of immigrants, and anything else that may be feeling too heavy to carry on your own.

The world is a challenging and complex place to live. It Is also full of opportunities, exiting relationships and so much to see and explore. I am part of it. I call it "the mess." By this, I mean it is a good mess. No place and no one is perfect. Continuously working on things we want without ever giving up is empowering and a freeing feeling. I take care of myself by connecting my body and mind in sink. I look forward helping my clients to improve their lives in a positive way for long term.

Please note I only work with adults one-on-one....Counseling which is most effective examines problems from all sides - thoughts and feelings and behaviors, but also biological, spiritual, relational, and societal influences. Often people come to me feeling very 'stuck.' But through non-judgmental, gentle exploration from this broad perspective, there are often small changes in one area which help a person start healing. I work within this holistic framework to guide clients in the changes they want to make, and draw from a wide range of proven therapies which fit a person's needs, goals, and values.

Choosing to go to therapy is both a courageous and meaningful step in someone's life. In my experience, some clients enter treatment having a sense of what is troubling them and have made great efforts to resolve these difficulties, and yet these painful feelings persist. And other times, clients are only aware of the hurt they are feeling and are looking for ways to identify it's source and alleviate their discomfort. I have found that the therapeutic relationship can be helpful in both circumstances and seek to provide an approach that is best characterized by warmth, flexibility, openness, active engagement, and sensitivity.

The decision to seek out a therapist is an important first step towards positively addressing conflicts, managing distress, and learning to cope with negative or overwhelming feelings. Our team of therapists bring years of therapy experience. We work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who are Deaf or come from Deaf families (includes hearing family/friends who sign). We provide a supportive, nurturing environment. We use a multimodal approach incorporating mind-body therapies with evidence-based treatments.

My specialty in counseling my patients and education wise is treating PTSD with related anxiety, family problems and care and treatment of severe mental illnesses, such with Schizophrenia, Psychosis, & Bipolar Disorder.
I believe what and how much you put into therapy that you are going to get out of therapy and treatment; Which truly goes with just about anything and everything in life. If you give it all you got, then you are bound to get to where you want to go and ultimately even how you choose to feel. We don't always get a choice in life, yet we are able to change how we think and look at what is in front of us and if it doesn't align with who you are and what you want, then I am here to help you along the way to become the best version of you and assist with you in achieving and feeling your best self including emotions and being as a whole.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
