As a clinical social worker, I have spent time working alongside of teens, young adults, and adults as they work through issues varying from typical developmental struggles to having to adjust following major life traumas. I am grounded in a strengths-based approach, and incorporate Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to address issues surrounding anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, eating disorders, grief and loss, sexuality, and anger.

My ideal client is one who is motivated to work on things that will improve their life and hopes to explore the situations and stresses in life collaboratively. I like to focus on helping people grow through feeling understood and cared for as well as to understand themselves and their relationships more accurately. My experience includes work with a variety of different client experiences, including trauma, relationship struggles, family stress or disfunction, divorce and blended family issues, shared custody/visitation, parent-child relationship, child behavior issues, loss, traumatic injury, terminal illness, aging, and more.

I have worked in the Lawrence community providing mental health services for more than 15 years. I primarily work with adolescents and adults. Therapy is a process of identifying and initiating small shifts in thought, feelings and behaviors that lead to healthier patterns of living with ourselves and others. I have extensive experience treating ADHD, depression, anxiety, working through co-parenting, high conflict divorce, family conflicts, and supporting the transition to work, college, and life after college.

Children often do not have the words to express what they are feeling or thinking. Traditional talk therapy alone is rarely successful in helping children process difficult life situations. At Lawrence Play Therapy, therapists can work with your child and family to bring healing. Play therapy involves children sharing their feelings and working through problems using play rather than just talking. The toys are the child's words and play is the child's language. We specialize in therapy with children ages 2 - 12. We also incorporate family therapy, Theraplay, and EMDR when appropriate.
