My focus is on Marriage and Family Therapy.
It is easy to get stuck and feel overwhelmed in relationships as tension rises due to differences which can feel unbearable during a crisis. I work with couples who would like to work through the fatigue and burnout from hurtful relationship experiences. You can heal as you learn to make sense of you internal world, process interpersonal dynamics, and adopt effective coping habits, forgiveness and mindfulness. As you share your story, I will coach you through a model that will bring clarity to the maladaptive patterns that exacerbate mental health. My hope is that you will feel valued, honored and empowered as you heal and grow.

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and family coping. I work with adolescents, adults, families and couples to help them find greater fulfillment from life and relationships. My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, culturally sensitive, strength based and client centered. I specialize in utilizing mindfulness-based treatments like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and a family systems approach in aiding an individual and/or family unit to help lessen the life-interfering symptoms which contribute to their anxiety, depression, and/or anger issues.
Each of us have the capacity to reach our fullest potentials. However, we often find ourselves stuck in negative patterns of thinking and being, unable to see other possibilities. Therapy allows us as individuals and family units to create meaning out of the various life experiences that we have encountered and can help to open up new ways of thinking, feeling, and being. I provide individual and family counseling in a comfortable and confidential setting. I treat those who experience issues related to trauma, anger management, self-injury, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, identity issues, and self-esteem challenges.

I came into the field of therapy because I have always been curious to how and what makes a relationship (romantic, friendship, or family) healthy and successful. Throughout my professional career I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families. It’s been a joy for me to empower my clients to develop and become more aware of their triggers, needs, and wants. In every client interaction, I learn the things that you need help with and we work together to put your story together in a meaningful way.

I offer you Emotion focused therapy for individuals/couples, Internal Family System work, Trauma informed as well as Cognitive Behavioral therapy.
Good mental health is hard to achieve in isolation. I commend you for reaching out to share your troubles. I offer you a safe place to feel. Trusting is especially hard if you've endured more than most. Learning how to deal with what's inside is confusing if nobody taught you as a kid how to make sense of it all. Therapy is a unique process where as you dare to let a safe person experience the hurt alongside you, you'll feel less alone,"weird" and overwhelme of what's happening. When we feel less alone, we'll have courage to try what it's like to practice responses that won’t get us deeper into depression, shame and anxiety.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; I work with families, couples, and individuals and conceptualize problems by piecing together the influence of the larger system (family, school, environment, etc).
Therapy is about gathering and understanding the pieces of your story. The themes of our story, the characters we've encountered, the obstacles we've faced, and the meaning we've made from our experiences, these are all complex things. It's my job (and joy!) to sort through these pieces and provide a new lens in order to challenge you, push you, and help you grow into the most healthy, authentic version of you. I love helping people understand themselves better and find courage to connect more with those around them.

I specialize in working with teen to middle-aged women dealing with self-esteem and relationship issues, as well as adults and teens dealing with relationship issues, setting boundaries, and family issues.
Do you feel lost, confused, and totally disgruntled as the world feels like it is passing you by but you’re holding all of the strings together. Getting to this point has taken a lot of you, maybe even feeling like its taken all of you. You have used so much courage, perseverance, and resilience to get to this point. This is the place where it stops. This is where you find what you have been looking for: the support, the encouragement, the ear to listen, the shoulder to cry. This is the space where you feel safe to be able to be the most vulnerable that you have ever been.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
