Do you have a child that struggles at school academically or behaviorally? I thrive in working with school-aged children (and their families) and assisting them in living their best life. I have spent my life working with youth in various contexts and have a "way" in working with youth that invites their true inner self to explode with greatness! I also work with adults as well and focus on transitional concerns, trauma, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and other adult life challenges!

Therapy is for everyone. Nothing is "wrong" with you for going to therapy. You don't have to wait for things to get worse before you seek help. You have been waiting for your problems to get "big enough" so you can justify going to therapy. Until now, you've been dealing with them on your own or by confiding in friends. Maybe what once helped you cope with starting a new school year or job transition is no longer enough. Perhaps your problems have become so overwhelming that it seems like there's no end in sight. You want something to change.

I have seen positive, long lasting results using a holistic approach with such issues as anxiety, depression, abuse issues, traumatic events, relational issues, parenting issues, childhood issues, grief and loss, personality disorders, women's issues, and marriage and family dynamics.
My philosophy towards therapy and, being a therapist, can be put this way.You can create positive change in your life. You can overcome difficult and even seemingly overwhelming obstacles. The first step is to believe that you are worthy of a better life no matter what the present situation tells you. The next step is to accept that, 'Life is a Journey'. I think there is incredible wisdom and hope in those words; a journey is on-going, and, life gives you opportunities to change as you choose! Sometimes we just need a little help figuring out how to start.

"I'm so overwhelmed." "I'm afraid this is the best my life will ever be." "Having fun takes too much energy." "No one cares about me." "I mess everything up." "Is life really supposed to feel this hard?" Are you struggling with negative self-talk such as above? Are you experiencing overwhelming stress that is taking over your life? Have you been through difficult or even traumatic experiences that are causing you to feel stuck or hopeless? Your past doesn't have to define your future. It is possible to experience a life that is fulfilling and positive.

My clients include children, teens, and adults struggling with anger, depression, social anxiety, ADHD, family and relational conflicts and more.
We all want to be happy and feel hopeful about the future, but sometimes life's stressors can make it quite challenging. Therapy can help. I work with clients to teach them healthy coping and how to change their perspective. A new way of thinking can truly make a significant impact on how a person feels. I am trained in EMDR therapy, a powerful treatment for trauma and PTSD. I graduated from Bradley University with a masters degree in Human Development Counseling and have over 10 years experience providing therapy.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem, racial identity, women’s issues, stress, and family conflict.
Life throws us many obstacles and challenges, no matter our age. Challenges such as starting a new job, moving to a new city, starting or ending a relationship, etc. Along with these new journeys, you may start to experience excessive worry, or continuously doubt your abilities, or feel isolated and alone and therefore not wanting to burden others. These patterns begin to influence your relationships with others and yourself, affecting your mood, motivation level, and overall happiness. If you’re reading this, you are approaching the first step into your therapeutic journey and I am here to help you with each step moving forward.

I offer individual and family counseling services.
You are the expert of your life and every individual client is different. Therapy is not one-size fits-all. I, as your therapist, want to form a partnership with you in which we collaborate and work together. My job is to develop an individualized treatment plan for you and your specific needs. The most important component of therapy is the client-therapist alliance and this is a top priority of mine. My goal is to provide you an environment in which you feel safe, understood, and accepted.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
