As a marriage and family specialist, I work with families, couples, and individuals with a variety of presenting needs. My work focuses on extinguishing present problems while also searching for long-term solutions at their root cause. I work with many different needs, specializing in problems with anxiety and depression, identity development, men’s issues, life/work transitions, and forming/maintaining positive healthy relationships. Hello and thank you for visiting my page! Let me introduce myself - my name is Dustin Mays. I am a father to a teenage girl, fitness enthusiast, enjoy hiking, time with my family and friends, and connecting with nature! I've been in the mental health field for 12 years and have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are living with emotional, relationship and behavioral challenges, grief and trauma, as well as general life challenges. I offer counseling and mediation services to individuals in Idaho, age 18 and above. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Professional Mediator. I am also trained in Level 1 and 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy and have experience working with individuals and couples on blended family issues. I help my clients understand their attachment patterns so they can have healthier relationships. If you feel stuck in your relationship, cycle through the same argument with your partner, or have a deep desire to be the parent to your child that your parent struggled to be to you, then we'll likely be a good fit. In our initial sessions, we will explore your family history to determine beliefs that you formed about relationships - both with yourself and others. My goal is to guide you in better understanding your relationships so that you can heal your attachment wounds and break unhealthy, multi-generational family cycles.

I help my clients understand the logic behind their emotions. Once they understand how their mind (logic) and heart (emotions) work, they are better able to use their new tools to reduce or stop depression, worries, pain, and relationship problems. Marriages improve and children behave better once these principles are put into place. They learn how to meet their needs in a healthier way and break the abusive cycles of behavior. I work with couples, families and individuals of all ages with a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, parenting and relationship issues.

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) enjoys working with adolescents and adults who suffer from a variety of disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress management, self-esteem issues, divorce, relationship difficulties, grief, self-harm, etc. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to address PTSD and trauma related symptoms. In addition to clinical counseling experience, worked in elementary and secondary education as both a teacher and a school counselor for 10 years. Session fee $125-$240.
