We have big emotions, intrusive thoughts, and body sensations that can be fucking scary. Yet, we hide that and push them way down deep and hope it doesn’t bubble up. Having emotions, thoughts and sensations are NORMAL, and healthy. But that can add an extra layer of shit when you are already dealing with your identities, relationships, or stressors! Don't do it alone, I'm here to navigate the ick with you.

Incorporating experiential modalities like art, sand, and play therapy, I adjust my approach to meet the unique needs of each person, couple, and family.
I focus on supporting queer and neurodivergent people, couples, children, and families. My clients often face challenges in understanding their identities, navigating relationships, or belonging in their environments. They seek not only to address specific issues such as communication breakdowns, emotional dysregulation, or life transitions but also aim to achieve deeper self-understanding and acceptance. Utilizing systemic and humanistic therapies, I offer a compassionate space where clients can explore their needs and goals. Together, we will work to foster stronger connections, enhance self-esteem, and improve overall well-being.

Welcome, thank you for being here. I see (many) experiences of suffering as inevitable and how we respond and care for ourselves through them matters. My work is based on a philosophy of learning to suffer well, meaning that we engage with curiosity and kindness, as we develop new ways to soothe distress and communicate with honesty and respect. Together we can tend to the roots of your suffering and make room for joy. I work from a trauma and compassion lens and integrate other EBTs. I prioritize safety, trustworthiness and transparency, collaborating and empowering your voice and choice while respecting your culture and history.

Mental health therapy is about wellness, not just for the mind, but for one’s whole self. If you’ve ever felt stuck, like you can see the way out but just can’t get there, you’re not alone. Many of us have tried to reason and logic our way to wellness but neglect our emotions which tell us when things just aren’t right. Therapy can be many things for different people, so I work closely with my clients to find out how we can learn about, understand, cope with, or possibly overcome whatever it is that brings them to therapy. If this is what you’re searching for, let’s talk!

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
