I am a trained mental health therapist currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology. I had experiences working with children, youth, young and older adults as well as working with couples and groups. Many of my clients have experienced loneliness, live in-between cultures, or hold marginalized identities. My areas of interests include multicultural identity development, cross-cultural adaptation & transition, interracial/interethnic relationships, family & relationships issues, trauma, perfectionism, stress management, suicide & crisis, anxiety & depression. I am also bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese Hokkien.

I divide my time between trauma therapy and marriage and family therapy. My practice offers individual therapy, couples counseling, mediation, diagnostic and forensic evaluations, and coparenting services. In individual therapy, I tend to work with clients on improving symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, family issues, and PTSD.

The Atlanta Behavioral Clinic specializes in working with young children and their families and caregivers, with some services beginning before 1 year old. Our approach is comprehensive. Our practice typically centers around working with clients and families to improve a child's behaviors using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), however, we also assist with Autism evaluations, offer play therapy, TF-CBT, family counseling, parent and caregiver coaching, support groups, and other services.

Dr. Lawanda Harmon has been actively working in the field of mental health since 2010. With a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling obtained from Walden University, she began working at Community Friendship Inc. as an individual and group therapist. Lawanda continued to pursue her education at the doctoral level, obtaining a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Walden University. During her practicum and internship field experiences, she gained extensive training in Cognitive and Behavioral techniques as well as in Emotional, Personality, and Trauma focused interventions at Atlanta Center for Family Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia.

Yolanda is an Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience providing help, hope and healing, in a supportive and confidential environment, to individuals, couples and families who are struggling with life's challenges. I am committed to motivate, empower and facilitate change in my clients by understanding their needs and providing the necessary skills and tools to grow and reach their full potential. I am focussed on delivering the highest quality of care and seek to improve the lives of others and bring them to a place of restoration.
