As an advanced level Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I am careful to ensure that everyone in the room with me feels heard and understood. I work with couples dealing with affairs, addictions, loss and trauma, as well as couples who just want to deepen their already strong connection. I am also an experienced EMDR practitioner with many years experience treating trauma, PTSD, and addictions.

I am a seasoned and dedicated family child therapist. I have been working with families and children since 1978. My goal is to provide help, hope, and healing to children and their families through play therapy. I specialize in children ages 2-10 but also work with older children. I build and strengthen relationships in the family system.

Couples can find themselves in a place where they struggle to connect and end up in defense postures, feeling frustrated and disconnected. Often, there is healing that needs to take place as well as learning to see through each other's "lenses" to build a strong attachment that will last. Many individuals struggle with anxiety, depression, and past trauma, as well as negative thought cycles, leaving them stuck and miserable. It's common for teens to experience low self esteem and confusion about the future and where they belong. It is my pleasure to work with these clients and others, to help bring hope and healing.

For me, working with teens and their families, along with couples and individuals, is my vocation rather than my profession. Dr. Catherine Thompson is a Colorado native. She received her Doctor of Psychology degree from the University of Colorado, Denver. Dr. Thompson is experienced working with children, adolescents, college-age students, and adults. In therapy, Dr. Thompson uses a solution- focused and goal-oriented approach to helping clients work through challenging situations. Her expertise includes, conducting psychological, executive functioning, and social/emotional assessments and conducting social skills groups. She is experienced working in a variety of settings including private practice, secondary and primary schools.
