I work as a healthcare therapist and as a private therapist and specialized in anxiety, depression, grief, family issues, life transitions, grief, work conflict and trauma.
If you've every felt like you were in a "space of stuck" you are not alone. Many individuals struggle to pinpoint the barriers to living an enhanced life that optimizes their potential. Trauma, and historical experiences can contribute to this state of suspension. You have the opportunity and capability to change direction, no matter how long you've felt like you were in a never ending cycle. It is not too late and you are not alone. The addition of my therapeutic services, support, and effective coping skills can be the catalyst for positive momentum. NOW is the time to get the results you crave.

They need to address family of origin issues, primary relationship and parenting concerns, grief and mourning issues, job related issues, body image issues, etc.
Authentic change happens from the inside out. It can't be veneered onto one's surface. Painful life experiences create a complex web inside that shapes a person's world. This web can limit one's ability to find joy and meaning in life. Psychotherapy offers a way to access deep emotional experience. As therapy proceeds connections will start to appear between past & current life experience. Problematic internal patterns will become visible and open to reevaluation and change. As internal stress decreases, clarity, joy and meaning will have the chance to emerge.

My approach to therapy integrates evidence-based practices grounded in the psychological literature. I have experience working with adolescents and adults to reduce or eliminate: anxiety, stress, and anger issues; depressive and bipolar mood symptom management; relationship, work, and school issues; problems with rumination and repetitive behaviors, and substance use problems. The structure of sessions varies based on a client's needs and can focus on: processing life events, understanding past and current issues, moving through difficult emotions, or learning skills for sustained behavior change and improved emotional processing.

I appreciate helping individuals and couples that just want to live better lives, have deeper relationships, and find more joy in day to day living. Life can be tough. Good therapy offers support, a place to be heard, guidance, and sometimes a place to hear truths that you may not want to hear, but need to hear. I offer a supportive and direct approach to those needing help with sex and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, and addictions. I also have a special spot in my heart to support those who have dealt with loss, whether recently or many years ago. Therapy is a space to adapt, stretch, and grow.

We live in challenging times where many people are feeling anxious, depressed, stressed and burned out. Everyday life can be overwhelming and difficult to manage as you navigate your relationships, family and work. You may feel worried, sad, tired, irritable, have less patience, can’t concentrate, or just feel a general sense of unease. You may find yourself wanting to disconnect from others or you have little energy beyond managing your basic day-to-day activities. Being a parent or caregiver, particularly of someone who has high needs or who is also struggling, can add to your stress, making things even more difficult.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
