Two of the biggest questions we tackle in your first session are, "What final made you decide to come to therapy?" and "What do you hope to gain by coming to therapy?" These two questions help lay the foundation we will build on.

I provide play therapy and counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families. I feel privileged to work with children and help them to heal emotionally, repair relationships, and improve daily functioning. I believe that all children possess the inner resources to heal themselves. I also believe that play therapy, family support, and the child's relationship with the therapist, best enable children to access those inner resources so they can heal, move forward, and be successful.

My ideal client is anyone who is dealing with the feeling of hopelessness, stuck, trouble adjusting with life events, depression, anxiety and more. For you to be an ideal client and for the work I offer to work, it starts with you being motivated in putting in the work towards change.

My ideal client is someone who has hit their rock bottom and knows change must occur. Their issues could range from anxiety, to processing being an empty nester, dealing with death, caring for aging parents or children's children, navigating teen age years, etc. Their need is peace. Their goal clarity and direction to find peace within and with others.

My career experiences have provided me opportunities to work with clients struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, borderline intellectual functioning, maladaptive behavior patterns, marital discord, family dysfunction, and adjustment disorders including bereavement. I work to meet my clients where they are in their lives, manage symptoms, identify useful coping skills, and assist in working towards short-term and/or long-term goals.

At some point in our lives we have felt broken. It can feel painful and we might want to avoid this pain, numb this pain, or feed this pain with unhealthy outlets. That pain may feel heavy and too hard to carry. I want to provide a space where all broken pieces are seen and heard. All broken pieces have meaning, value and are valid. A place where the pain you carry is lighter because you are not having to bear it alone. It is an honor for me to be able to meet you where you are in these spaces and watch you break through barriers that have kept you trapped or stuck, allowing you to fulfill your purpose.

I have many years of experience working with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. I live and work in the River Valley. Formerly a safety engineer in Chicago, I later trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist in The Canadian Rockies. I’ve been practicing for over 14 years and provide a Christ-centered approach to therapy. I have over 8000 hours of experience with youth issues. I enjoy working with couples and families, helping people fall in love again. I have helped many people work through loss, trauma and, also trained in and advanced trauma techniques using EMDR therapy. I have seen many clients with sexual issues. I have experience working with children and adults with autism and dyslexia.

I want to start by saying that I truly hold a solid belief that each and every human deserves to feel happiness, love, excitement, contentment, and ultimately to achieve their dreams, desires, goals, and best-selves!
