Change is sometimes overwhelming, but continuing in familiar unhealthy patterns are likely preventing you from living the best version of yourself. My hope is to walk along beside you as you identify some of your unhealthy patterns; help you establish realistic goals; and implement healthy change in a way that doesn’t feel daunting. I have seven years experience working with individuals from all backgrounds with varying concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress, strained family dynamics, and unhealthy boundaries.

I'm especially passionate about working with spiritual trauma and anxiety, but I’ve also worked with people going through depression, grief, marital issues, family issues, and all sorts of other situations.
Everyone has their own mountain to climb, and sometimes it gets more complicated than you prepare for. You may be bogged down in the past, struggling to keep up in the present, or fearful about your future. Whatever you’re going through, you found yourself here, hoping to make a change that can get you back on course. The good news is that there is hope! That change is possible, and you are capable of making it happen. We can work together to help you move past just getting by and start living a meaningful, satisfying life.

My licensure also gives me a unique perspective for those seeking couples or family therapy.
Hi there! My name is Maggie and I am so glad you are here. As someone who went to therapy as a child and an adult, I understand that reaching out can feel overwhelming, so let me applaud you on taking this first step. I believe therapy is a beneficial tool for anyone who is looking to grow, change, or heal and I consider it a privilege to work with individuals through the highs and lows of life. While I have been trained for a variety of needs, I have a focus specifically on trauma, spirituality, emotion regulation, relationships, and connection.

My goal as a therapist is to create an environment that demonstrates collaboration, transparency, helpfulness, and empathy for my individual, couple, and family clients.
Every person has individual, unique experiences that they bring into the room, which means their own therapy needs may look very different than another’s. I am passionate about working alongside clients who are motivated to pursue lasting change in their lives, whether that be processing complex trauma, learning new relationship skills, navigating life transitions, or formulating healthy boundaries and self care practices. It can be painful to talk about and face the things that have brought you to the place you are currently in, but just like resetting a broken bone, the rewards of healing far outweigh the pain of healing!

I love working with those who are ready to make a change in their lives. I think trust and comfort are the two most important factors when choosing a therapist. For real progress to happen, the therapist has to be a good fit for you. I think each client comes in with individual and specific challenges, meaning therapy has to be tailored to fit each client. I'd love to be able to take the time to figure out what is happening for you and what can be helpful in overcoming obstacles.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
